I'm not really feeling it either, tbh. But I wasn't feeling it for most of last season and we know how that turned out, so I'm not nearly ready to close the door on the possibility yet. He's still generating lots of chances for himself, he's just been massively "unlucky" so far. Weren't you against trading Nyquist tho? I mean, I agree with you that he doesn't appear to be as important as the top-line guys. Though, in saying that, I think it's fair to say the leaves-me-wanting-more thing is at least *partly* a team problem, as opposed it being purely a him problem. Like, look at Bertuzzi. 21 goals and 47 points through 73 games last season. 6 goals and 14 points through the first 14 games of this season. Does he produce like this if Bertuzzi-Larkin-Mantha isn't a thing? I doubt it. So, personally, while I'd be open to moving AA, I don't necessarily agree that he's playing himself out of the picture. If he only hits 20 goals this season, well, that still makes him one of our top scorers, and he wouldn't be getting "Two-time 30-goal scorer money" on his next deal. Even if we get a 1st for AA, it probably isn't a very early 1st, which means we're probably getting a player who's a few years away from the NHL and who likely isn't going to become a much better player than AA. Just some food for thought.

Just to be clear: I'm still good with the Zadina and Veleno and Seider picks. And the Rasmussen pick. I don't think those picks are really holding us back. I think it's just the unfortunate reality that we haven't been able to pick in the top 3 yet and we haven't found some real gems in the later rounds. We're the Rangers if the Rangers had picked 6th overall in the 2019 Draft. (Though, even with all of their shiny new toys, the Rangers aren't exactly dominating right now.) Twice last season he went 11 games without scoring a goal. He's streaky as hell. As long as he keeps getting lots and lots of breakaways, the goals will probably be there by the end of the season. I'm not really trying to say that's a good thing or a bad thing, just that this is basically what he is. A "30-goal scorer" with 80% of those goals coming on breakaways because he's just that fast.

Thing is, he's probably still going to finish with around 30 goals. Cuz that's just how it is with him. Runs very hot or very cold.

Time for a black pill take: Carolina was a s*** team for ages. All their current talent? Built up over a long time. If we're ungodly lucky, we'll be where they are now in two years. But it's likely going to take much longer than that.

Prob'ly. I doubt there's going to be much of a market for Howard tho. Ow. My soul.
