Would you want Crosby on the Wings?

    TERRORIST! WATERBOARD! WATERBOARD!

Would you want Crosby on the Wings?

I was just responding to a point. Someone said Crosby's the better player right now. Which he's not.

Will the Wings add more grit to lineup?

I honestly don't think you understand how this team works.

    4/25 Playoff GDT

Which is exactly why they'll never be moved out of the West. Not in our lifetime, at least. But we can dream. *sigh*

Will the Wings add more grit to lineup?

The bottom line is that the Wings don't need an enforcer. Kenny's in the business of addressing legitimate needs and holes. He does this to make sure the team stays competitive. If, for example, we need a solid #3 d-man, he'll go out and get one because that's a hole that would likely be exploited to devastating effect in the postseason. The Wings' lack of "tough guys" is not as serious a hole. It's something the opposition always talks about in the playoffs and vows to exploit -- but in the end, the opposition usually realizes s***-stirring is not the way to beat this team. Skill, strong two-way play, puck-possession, chemistry, class -- these are the cornerstones of this Wings' team and its success. Goonery is not part of the plan, as Downey's complete absence from the playoff roster last season illustrated.

Crosby is a better goal scorer. Hank's all-around game is better.

    Pang Replaces Pierre!

Pierre's cool in my book. When he's not talking. Or writing. Or communicating in any way whatsoever.

Will the Wings add more grit to lineup?

The place of the enforcer in the NHL has changed. Specifically, it's gotten a lot harder for him; the game isn't as kind to him as it once was. Financial realities as well as the realities of the dynamics of the "new game" may have not entirely phased out goons -- but they're a dying breed. As people have said already, if you want to goon it up in the new NHL, you typically need to be able to contribute in other ways as well. There are exceptions, but not many.

    Poor thread.

    Fight in the stands

I'm sorry, but I find this whole thing absolutely hilarious. I mean, just look at it: a fist fight over a guy trying to squeeze a concealed octopus through a hole in a pane of plexiglass. I love hockey.

Someone set me up with a video stream plz.
  13. The 'nucks do not have what it takes to win the Cup this season. I'm not even saying that as a Wings fan. It's just the truth.

Babcock wanted Ericsson to play two years ago

I think it's pretty well understood that Babs has wanted to get him into the lineup for a little while now. The problem was the logjam. Thankfully, that seems to have been more or less sorted out.

Anaheim won in '07 because we were missing two key defensemen. And I guess I can see some similarities between the Ducks and 'nucks. Bottom line, though: I think the Ducks can do more damage against this team over the course of a series. I can see Vancouver falling apart if Luongo gets rattled. And I can see him getting rattled.

Hiller =/= Ducks Luongo = 'nucks I think if I'm a Wing, I want to face the team that puts all its eggs in one basket. Especially when the Wings have shown they can, uh, stomp that basket. The Ducks, though far-removed from their dominating selves of a couple seasons ago, can still hut you (in some cases, literally) in a number of ways. The 'nucks...they strike me as fairly thin, one-dimensional.

    Brad Stuart Annihilates Umberger

It's gotta be one of the cleanest bigtime hits I've seen in a long while. On some angles it looks like Stuart might've thrown the hip and/or leaned with his elbow. But on the angle facing the two (so, the cross-ice cam) it's clearly a textbook shoulder-to-shoulder ass-whooping.

For once, I agree. Between the Ducks and 'nucks, I'd rather the Wings face the latter. The Ducks have the second best blue line in the league, a hot goalie, scoring punch up front -- and they play a nasty, physical game. The 'nucks have an elite goalie, some scoring threats, and a tight defensive game...which is centered squarely on Luongo's shoulders. Luongo is a phenomenal netminder, but he hasn't exactly proven unsolvable for the Wings. I'd like to see how he does with Homer and Mule parking in front of him.

    Fight in the stands

I have to say, it's kind of a hilarious picture. At least the way I'm imagining it in my head. Where was the octopus during all this? Did it just sorta...plop on the ground? Or did the Wings fan try to use it as a weapon? Because I know I wouldn't want to get smacked across the face with one of those things.

    Vancouver Sweeps St. Louis

I'm sorry, but the 'nucks flat-out do not scare me at all. Park Homer in front of Luongo and watch the team fall apart from there.
