Why the Red Wings Don't Fight

esteef, I like you. Except when you talk about fighting. You're just being obstinate now.

WCQF GAME 2 GDT: Red Wings 4, Blue Jackets 0

Don't worry, in about 30 minutes we'll be hearing about how the refs handed the Wings the game.

I mean, has there ever been a more boring hockey game?

I can't bear to watch anymore. The Jackets are physically obliterating this team. Too. many. soft. Euros.

Man, are the Wings soft or what? They're getting absolutely manhandled out there. It's too bad they don't have a fighter out there. You know, to send a message, set the tone, etc.

Why the Red Wings Don't Fight

Because teams found a way to beat them. And that way, more often than not, was not to TTLY BEAT DOWN THOSE *******!1 In '95, for example, the Devils played a ruthless lockdown game. In '03, the Wings forgot how to play down low. Hell, the Wings were a breath away from sending that Big, Bad Ducks team packing in '07. Look, we all like the rough side of the game. And here's Kenny himself straight-up saying that he'd ideally like to give Babs a team that can play and pound. But the Wings have a good thing going. They're the class of the league for a reason. I'm content with that.

Concussion keeps Andreas Lilja's career on hold

Also, all the stray kittens in the world would suddenly be transported back to their owners via beams of heavenly light.

Concussion keeps Andreas Lilja's career on hold

If we had enforcers there would be no cancer, or poverty, or racism, or global warming.

    Jiri Fischer

I respect your point about counting our blessings -- but it's by no means a stretch to say he would've become a top defenseman in this league. As someone already said, he had all the tools and was definitely starting to put it all together.

    Unavenged Playoff Defeats

The love and hate of Sidney Crosby

This. Talent-wise, maybe. But Lemieux is a ******, whereas Stevie is the definition of class and leadership.

    Mike Green scores......AGAIN!

Nick Lidstrom is the best defenseman in the NHL. Talk is going around that he's having an off-season -- maybe so, but an off-season for Nick is still better than any other defenseman's season. Mike Green scores a lot. That's it. I'm not sure he even knows how to play D.

    Hossa negotiations continue

If you have a chance to have Hossa on your team, and reasonably comfortably in terms of the cap, you pull the trigger.

Wings to Open 09-10 season in Stockholm, Sweden

What's there to BS about? It's good exposure for the league and a cool nod to the Wings' Swedish fanbase. I understand "the curse," and I know this will add to the Wings' travel woes. But come on.

    Chelios' 10 Years with Wings

I was just thinking this. It's understandable, though. Those were his peak years.

    Mike Green scores......AGAIN!

It's a cool story, but when you consider the fact that he plays a s*** defensive game....

    Tuukka Rask goes nuts

    Holy crap.

    my sentiments exactly

The Wings are clearly the best team in the league. The problem is that they haven't played like it -- not with any consistency, at least. All we can do is hope everything "clicks" come the playoffs.

    is franzen special?

I don't know if I'd say people underrated Quincey. Bottom line, he didn't impress at training camp -- and even if he had, he wouldn't have gone on to produce with the Wings like he is in LA because he wouldn't have enjoyed nearly as much ice time. That's why he has those numbers - ice time. I'm optimistic about Kopecky, but I don't see him ever becoming a Franzen-like force. His frame, his hands, and his overall offensive instincts are all concerns in that respect.
