People take Cherry too seriously. By that I mean people think he's beholden to be some top-notch commentator. The guy's an institution, and it's not because of his "smarts" -- it's for the entertainment value. Yeah, you may not find him particularly entertaining, but seriously, "He's a fool" is kind of a truism.

Not really comparable. We won't have to give up nearly as much for Neil, Roberts or Lappy, and they're all bottom six checkers.

Or we could be objective about it. I haven't seen the hit in question, but my general understanding is that Cleary committed to a clean hit and Big Joe turned his body at the last second, giving Cleary no time to ease off. That doesn't sound "dirty" to me.

I can't imagine Roberts is all that interested in becoming a Wing. Lappy...more likely, but still unlikely. imo

Fair enough. However, every team has a "checking line" for a reason. Ideally, the delegation is pretty clear-cut: top 6 scores, bottom 6 lays on the body and contains. And that's saying nothing of the spark plug factor. I think a guy like Neil would give the whole lineup a nice shot in the arm, a la Drake. Given this team's drive/hunger/motivation problems this season, that warrants some consideration. -
I need you dudes and dudettes to be on the ball with this game's play-by-play. I literally have no feed -- no TV, no radio. How are we looking so far?

Just for the record, I'm not a Chris Neil lover, and I've had titanic fights with LGWers about the "need" (imo, the lack thereof) for fighters in this lineup. I just think he'd be a great addition. Simple as that. -

Hockey is played on ice, not paper. If you don't think he'd be a good addition, cool. But if you've seen him in action, and if you've seen our bottom six in action, you'd know he's worth more than an offhand dismissal. The package Neil offers could be of great value to this team in its postseason run. -

I'll just add this: "overblowing" Neil's value would looking something like "OMG! Neil is an amazing player and we need him!" I don't see a lot of that. What I see is people saying he'd be a great addition, and could realistically be picked up. -
