Seriously. Send a message right now that that s*** won't be tolerated.

Oh s***, they woke up the Mule. RIP Pens.

Someone pound Roberts.

Bless you, Valtteri Orr.

Coldplay + iPod. Does marketing get any safer?

No, I'd prefer at least a borderline split in attention between the Pens and the Wings. True, the Pens aren't doing things right. That's great, and it should be akcnowledged. But credit the Wings with doing things extremely well. Honestly, even though that wasn't a great period for the Wings, they're still playing some of the best hockey I've ever seen. And I've seen -- and played -- a lot of good hockey.

Nope. The color guys' M.O. is to explain to viewers ad nauseam what the Wings' opposition can do get back in the game. Thankfully, the guys at Hockey Central seem to have their heads on straight tonight.

Eddie: "Penguins Penguins Penguins Penguins Penguins Penguins Penguins Penguins Penguins Penguins Penguins Penguins Penguins Penguins Penguins Penguins Penguins Penguins Penguins Penguins...."

I haven't seen the Wings play this well in years. Unbelievable.

Penguins, NHL have reason to be worried

Good, solid period. The Pens have no answers to their problems. Well, other than PP time.

For what it's worth, Burnside said the Pens are done if they lose tonight.
-
I'm incredibly tricky like that.

Probert, who will have just base-jumped from the rafters above.

I'm not saying I agree with calling Burnside a moron. If anything, I'm just trying to save you time, as you're fighting a completely futile, misguided battle in trying to teaching hockey fans manners on an Internet message board. But if you like truisms and such so much, have at it. I won't get in your way.

I understand what you're saying, Eva, but the fact of the matter is this goal was called off because Homer was in front of the net. In other words, the call had nothing to do with the rules; it was a reputation call. If that's Crosby in front of the net and Malkin pulling the trigger, O'Halloran doesn't wave it off.

He's just lobbying. They're going to be dumping and chasing and trying to blow past our D. You put a guy like Lilja or Chelios in that position a few times and you're going to get at least one hooking/interference/obstruction call out of it. Add on some good ol' crybaby lobbying and you've just earned yourself an additional five PPs.

Man, if I'm Therrien, I'm not at all pleased with this news. Sammy's on fire and his line really clicks. Danny finally got back on the board and will probably only get better from here on out. Flip was quietly one of the best players on the ice Saturday. Suddenly the Wings have an embarrassment of riches again. So many options.

Roberts in, Mule in -- this is going to be good.
-
Careful -- you might hurt Burnside's feelings.

Mac sits. This isn't even a question.

HELL YEAH! McCarty.

You do understand how sports fan cultures work, right? You might as well be barging into kindergarten classes and yelling, "FARTING IS NOT REALLY THAT FUNNY, KIDS." Lighten. Up.

http://freep.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID.../805260377/1053 Inside scoop [on Homer]: Masterly mangles the English language as well as his native Swedish; often accused by teammates of being Finnish, or from the North Pole (quite possibly Santa Claus), and having the least curved stick in hockey. In the process of attaining U.S. Green Card, it prompting teammates to wonder just how low American standards have sunk.

When do you not play devil's advocate? Sure, the Pens could win this series on the strength of monstrous team defense. But as "experts," these people should be focusing on the here and the now, the facts -- not what could happen should God himself decide to intervene. The Wings' blue line is infinitely better than that of the Pens, as is their team D. They proved this last night and will continue to prove it en route to another Cup. Making a favorable comparison between the teams' respective defensive systems is a big stretch. Saying the Pens are a flat-out better defensive team is absolutely ludicrous.
