I liked how Eddie referred to the Wings as being "Maybe just a little bit better defensively" with about 8 minutes left in the game. Whatever. 1 down, 3 to go. Sammy's clicking, Dan's finally on the board, Mule's set to return -- all systems go, *******!

What makes it even worse is that sequence at the other end of the ice about five minutes later, when Osgood was literally being shoveled into the net. One of the latest whistles on a blatantly frozen puck in recent memory.

I'm just gonna come out and say it: That blown call is worse than the one in the Stars series. Why? Because this is the goddamn finals. This is supposed to be the league's big dance, its mass-market exposure series, it' cash-cow. And you make a s*** call like that in front of the biggest audience of the year? Absolutely ridiculous.

Of course it's going to happen. That said, pointing the finger solely at Bettman is a wee bit misguided; the head coaches and general managers are the ones who historically do most of the talking to officials.

What is this garbage? Franzen doesn't really have a choice; he's not a doctor, there are probably insurance issues, and oh yeah -- he could be risking his life if he returns prematurely. I had to give up my hockey career -- which, not to brag, was very bright -- because of a potentially life-threatening medical concern. It's not an easy position to be in, trust me.

Not get credit for being draft day gurus. No one here has a problem with the Pens' management -- just with this talk of them being amazingly sharp for drafting the likes of Crosby and Malkin. It's like calling someone with a failing heart a genius for getting a heart transplant.

I remember seeing him on the bench after a ridiculously long shift in the Avs series. Flip and Sammy were sucking wind, practically dying. Mule...Mule was perfectly fine. Point being, I think he was in absurdly good shape before he went down, so I don't imagine he'll show much rust. Maybe in his first few shifts.

No, I'm giving credit where credit is due. The Stars are a good team; they did beat the defending Cup champs and that oh-so-scary Sharks team; and they did begin to give the Wings a good run for their money before collapsing in Game 6. -
