I thought it was pretty hilarious, actually.

I heart karma.

Honestly, I'd give ZDH the edge in an offense-only matchup. Crosby's a beast, but the West is, imo, much stronger than the East in the defense department -- and this line has at one point or another made every D unit in the West look silly. I hate to play this card, but the Pens' offense really has had it easier by comparison. It'll be an interesting matchup, for sure.

the Red Wings' playoff run could shatter like a cracked egg. I can be as cynical as the next guy, but honestly, this piece is mere sensationalism. I understand the concern, and it is a concern -- but that's why God invented defense.

I'll give you the special teams, but I don't agree with this one. In the ZDH line you've got two offensive dynamos who are just as responsible defensively as they are dangerous offensively (see Selke nominations). You also have the league's best crease pest in Homer. No line in hockey can match this one right now, imo.

Wings staying in front of Dallas net for Game 5

I love Michael Babcock. Kenny's...working his way into my graces. -
Can you imagine the flavors? "Lockout Licorice," anyone?

Dear Wings fans, Why bother arguing? This is the most dominant Wings team we've seen in over a decade. Maybe even more dominant than the '97 team. The top 4 is nuts. Lidstrom-Rafalski + Kronwall-Stuart? Good luck with that, Sid. ZDH is the most dominant line in the league, and Dats and Hank are currently EN ******* FUEGO. Our secondary scoring has been somewhat lacking since losing Mule, but at the very least, it's defensively responsible and more than up to the challenge of going head-to-head with its Penguin counterpart. If the Wings get Mule back, forget it -- advantage: Wings. The role players have been getting the job done. Helm is a revelation and Maltby might as well be the Maltby of the '97 and '98 runs (which, just to be clear, is a good thing). Osgood is playing the best hockey of his career, no questions asked. Good luck, Pens. You'll need it.

All the more reason to hope for a blowout. 9-0 ftw!

As others have said, standing by your officiating doesn't necessarily mean agreeing with them 100% all the time. All "standing by your officials" entails is siding with them on a general, institutional level (e.g. "I believe the NHL has the best officiating system in all pro sports"). Of course Bettman isn't going to publicly question a call, but to say that he absolutely can't if he knows what's good for him is a bit much, imo.
-
If he does (which he won't), I'll take back all the negative things I've ever said about him.
-
I'm going to enjoy watching the Wings absolutely abuse the Pens.

mmk = mmkay It's not an abbreviation.

Yes, follow me around -- e.g., digging up quotes from old threads just to one-up me. I'll say it again: I've never given up on this team. If your smoking gun is me saying I'm going to a Capital forum, you're more misguided than I had thought; that quote is me being sarcastic and throwing in a little self-deprecation for good measure. You won't find a post in which I say I'm no longer a Wings fan, or that I wish bad things on them, etc. Moreover, if all you're trying to tell me is that I'm an ass who shouldn't expect people to take me seriously, then why not lead by example -- show all the posters how easy it is to ignore me instead of engaging me in personal battles.

It's just your "tone"/"arrogance." Some people can't handle it and they get all PMSy. Their loss. *shrug*
-
Almost? That's exactly what happened to Homer tonight -- and has been happening to him for quite some time now. Oh well. I'm gonna drink and sleep. Off I go!

I'm on your side, GMR.
-
We'll see you in court, GMR.
-
As long as you don't s*** on me.
-
And you may not see the virtue(s) in what you perceive as "arrogance" (specifically, that it is one of the most basic expressions of support for a pro sports team, as opposed to eating off of silver plates and shaking hands and patting backs and saying, "Good show, old bean"), but that doesn't mean you should s*** on those that do. Fans will be fans. Deal with it and let this thread die.
-
Kind of like "arrogance"?

There is no silver lining to this. Wings should just forget this game ever happened and focus on the next game. That's what I'm going to do. (After I egg someone's house.)
