Opie, that right there is a microcosm of your perspective's shortcomings; you're relying on huge generalizations and assumptions, as well as a general lack of good old-fashioned rationality. That people point out this team's weaknesses and call for them to be addressed is not proof that they're fair-weather fans who are "too young to blah blah blah" and should "find another team because blah blah blah" and want to "have their cake and eat it too blah blah blah." This team has issues and they need to be addressed. Simple as that. Some people, myself included, simply aren't impressed with regular season success and the fact that the Wings won back-to-back cups a decade ago and bought the Cup in '02.

Pierre Maguire is a dick, but I see nothing terribly wrong with what he said -- aside from the Howard comment, but even that has some merit. If the Wings don't make a move, they are in trouble. And as far as his Cup favorites...the last time this team went all the way was '02. Completely different league, completely different Wings team. Thus far, the post-Yzerman Wings have 0 Cups and a string of big disappointments to their name.
