Hossa Sweepstakes down to four teams?

I just claimed the movie rights. Chuck Norris is starring as me.

Hossa Sweepstakes down to four teams?

Those coincidences aren't bizarre at all, IMO. The person behind the account probably realized he was getting in over his head and freaked out, hence things disappearing.

Hossa Sweepstakes down to four teams?

    YES. GOOD GOD.
  4. Not happening. I'd love to have Sundin, but Hossa makes more sense. Sundin is a clear-cut rental nearing the end of his career and, as he's a center, we would still have a hole to fill on the wing.

Deadline - wish lists, hunches, speculation

Hossa wants out of Atlanta. At this point, he'll probably refuse any deal DW puts on the table. He wants to go to a contender. Everything that's been said about the situation indicates he'd be willing to take a "paycut" to play for a perennial powerhouse like the Wings. Folks, it's really simple: - Hossa would be more or less a long-term addition. - Hossa is affordable. - Hossa is more valuable than Hudler and Flip combined. - Hossa is the kind of player the Wings lack and need right now. No one in our system can offer what Hossa offers. We can afford to lose a "future Datsyk" who, at the moment, is doing jack for us. But a big-time franchise winger? Different story.

I'd like to add that I have no idea why "The Future" and Hossa are viewed by so many as being mutually exclusive. Hossa is a young franchise winger who's only now heading into his prime. You want a bright future? There ya go.

    1. Hossa is not a rental. 2. Hossa is not a rental. 3. Hossa is not a rental. 4. Look at our current roster and ask yourself, "Where's the scoring depth?" Sorry, but Hudler, Flip, Sammy and Franzen are not going to cut it. We need a goal-scoring type. 5. Did I mention Hossa's not a rental?

And yes, he would be a long-term commitment, not a rental.

Hossa Sweepstakes down to four teams?

As others have posted numerous times before, the Wings can afford it. At this point, the argument for keeping Flip instead of Hossa holds no water.

Hossa Sweepstakes down to four teams?

He's only our future by choice, as opposed to necessity. As several people have already said, I can't imagine anyone crying over losing Flip after seeing Hossa in this lineup. Hossa is an elite player who's good for 40-goal seasons, very strong two-way play, and a physical presence (albeit not in the traditional sense). Anyone who would take Filppula over that is simply blinded by sentimentality. I'm going to keep beating this drum until Hossa signs somewhere.

Can't remember if I posted this last night, as I was drunk:

Hossa on the Ducks, Sharks or the Wings would be beastly.

I wonder, Is this the first time a professional sports trade rumor has centered on a facebook account?
  15. No doubt. But when push comes to shove (and it will, if it hasn't already), will Holland ante up?

Hossa Sweepstakes down to four teams?

I'm thinking Holland is referring to guys who are literally "depth players." And he's justified in saying that; you never want to offer up a lot for depth players. A guy like Hossa would obviously make our offense much deeper, but he's not a depth guy in a strict sense.

HOSSA WOULD NOT BE A RENTAL! I REPEAT: HOSSA WOULD NOT BE A RENTAL! ONE MORE TIME, WITH FEELING: HOSSA WOULD NOT BE A RENTAL!
  19. I'm eager to see Ericsson.
  20. Just had to kill the buzz, didn't you? Nah, it's true. As amazing as it would be, we're not getting Hossa. I'd love to eat those words, but I just can't see him coming here.

NHL GM's Declare War on Goalies

You're over-complicating the issue. Goalies are taking liberties with their equipment. It's ridiculous. Skaters are, for the most part, not taking liberties with their equipment. That's not ridiculous. The ridiculous party is being put under the microscope. Why? Because it's the ridiculous party, not the sensible one.

    Furthermore, it's perfectly do-able $-wise.

Hossa Sweepstakes down to four teams?

Hossa is an elite offensive threat heading into his prime years, one who is practically custom-made for our biggest hole on offense: that of a big-bodied big-time scoring winger. Hudler and Flip both have potential. The latter has tons of it and will undoubtedly blossom into a tremendous player. But Hossa is the kind of guy you build a team -- no, a franchise around. He's a big deal, and for good reason. Hudler is not. Flip is not. Cleary is not. Moronic is the GM who passes on Hossa in favor of the likes of Flip and Hudler.

NHL GM's Declare War on Goalies

It's really not, though. They may be a bit harder and faster on average, but the helmet-less goalies of yesterday were still very much risking their lives every time they lined up against a wind-up. But this is tangential. The point is, goalie equipment has gotten out of hand and needs to addressed. Anyone who disagrees has blinders on.
