I really don't know the Leafs' situation too intimately, but I imagine they'd have an interest in Kindl. If the rumors about Blake's asking price (roster player + prospect + pick) are correct, they'll probably be asking for something along the lines of Fort Knox + The Second Coming of Jesus Christ + The Holy Grail. (So...something like Flip/Kronwall + Kindl + A pick or two.) Unless, of course, Mats has some sort of say (which I assume he would) and expresses a desire to not screw over potential resting places before he even gets there. He's a classy guy, so that's possible.

And just like that, D-Mac is back in the system. Crazy! :rockstar:

Not a single one of our young players is so good that losing him would force this team to tank. If it came down to Hudler, a prospect and a pick, I'd pull the trigger in a heartbeat, as a 36-year-old Sundin is better than Hudler will ever be. Besides, this organization isn't about putting the future ahead of the present -- Holland knows as well as anyone else that this team is in the business of making a big push every season, and that picking up Sundin (for the right price) is just the kind of deal you make as a GM if you're really serious about going for the Cup and not deferring because "Aw shucks, Jiri just needs a chance!" Personally, I'd rather Holland focus on Hossa. But Sundin (again, at the right price) would be an absolutely phenomenal pickup.

"Mats. Dude." "I know, but...." "No, seriously. Mats. Come on, dude." "*sigh* Fiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiine."
-
Sweet. (Pronounced "Swede." ) I just hope this doesn't count as a legitimate this-season acquisition in Kenny's mind.
-
The point is, he makes many of those saves largely because of his equipment, not significant talent.
-
1. He's a royal ****** bag. 2. He's really not all that good. 3. He's on the Blues, who would probably rather move to Winnipeg than deal us one of their top d-men.
-
Good scrap. I'd definitely give Ivanans the edge.
-
This guy is money. He'll probably be a Duck by 2/26.
-
Yes. (And disappointing in the postseason.)
-
Word. And those Sedins, they like the back of our net.
-
Oh shut up, Crymson. As some have said, Holland had better be working on something -- because Burke sure as hell is.
-
Kubina has a good decade on Blake, while, like Nick said, playing essentially the same game as Blake. He'd be great.
-
Zetterberg - Dastyuk - Holmstrom Cleary - Filppula - Hossa Maltby - Draper - Neil Kopecky - Franzen - Downey Lidstrom - Kubina Kronwall - Rafalski Lilja - Chelios Hossa for the top-6 scoring punch. Neil for the balls and muscle. Kubina for the big, physical, stay-at-home presence in the top-4.

Yep. Like I said, Melrose was actually spot-on -- he just reiterated the point too many times because he's a jackass like that. The Wings squeaked away with two points here, and I'm glad they did, but a best-of-seven against this Ducks team (which will undoubtedly make at least one more reasonably significant acquisition) is going to be brutal, especially if we're down a few men. A big, physical d-man is a must, and if we do pick up a winger, I hope he's a big guy (cough Hossa cough).
-
Maybe it's because I'm drunk, but Melrose's commentary made me laugh. I mean, his point is right-on. But seriously, at least try to sound like you don't hate the Wings with every ounce of your being.

Wings 2, Ducks 1.

Awesome. I want a video! EDIT: Re: Cleary.
-
I was out all night. Just checked the box score. Did Cleary really fight Chrissy?! Details!!
-
No way does Holland pull the trigger on this.
-
He's a franchise winger who knows how to put the puck in the net and is damn near impossible to knock off the puck. In other words: just what this team needs. So yes, he's absolutely good enough to replace multiple players on this roster.
-
Can you really blame him, though? Not that he's not biased, but the Wings have a bit of a choking streak going on.
-
Edit: Whoops.

Eat your heart out, power rankings.

Hi, welcome to the Detroit Red Wings.
