Not tonight, baby. Not tonight. (BTW, Stevie, how do you not age?)
-
I'm 100% confident the Wings will win tonight. And they will win tonight. "We shall draw from the heart of suffering itself the means of inspiration and survival." - Winston Churchill

On September 23, 1779, [John Paul] Jones fought one of the bloodiest engagements in naval history. Jones struggled with the 44-gun Royal Navy frigate Serapis, and although his own vessel was burning and sinking, Jones would not accept the British demand for surrender, replying, “I have not yet begun to fight.†More than three hours later, Serapis surrendered and Jones took command.

They'll be dressing Probie. The time has come.

1. The idea is to score on the PP, not impress the opposition with your passing prowess. 2. You don't cycle in your own zone. Drill these into your head, and game 6 is ours.

I don't see a lot of people throwing in the towel. It's just disheartening, that's all. Plus, you have to factor in hangovers.

I'd pay good money to sit in on one of those famed Stevie talks.

Every Wings fan knew it was coming. What makes it especially lame is the missed too many men call. Even Pierre was practically flipping out over how obvious it was.
-
All but one of their PPs this game were pretty horrendous. It goes without saying, but the PP is huge -- it didn't click for the Ducks early in the series and it cost them, and now it's not clicking for us and it's costing us. All of this isn't to say I've lost faith. Far from it. I'd just like these things to be addressed and overcome because, let's face it, if we can improve in those areas, the Ducks are dead.

I've just grown tired of the "a" word.

Actually, probably more than 3 years. But point taken.

Wings need a wakeup call. I just hope Babs' public comments don't mirror the ones he's making behind closed doors.
-
I appreciate the sentiment, and it's the right one for Babs, as the coach, to express, but it kind of makes me "Blah blah blah adversity blah blah blah." You know what makes battling adversity a whole lot easier? SCORING ON ONE OF YOUR 18 5-ON-3s. Sorry, I'm a bit tipsy. But my point stands.

I'm sorry, but many of the mistakes they've made should be credited more to inexcusable brain farts than to the opposition's forecheck. There have been way too many unforced errors, and it's indicative of a problem that's been present since the start of the regular season. They need to tighten it up down low. Big time.
-
I don't think the mistakes in our own zone have much to do with our physical shortcomings; really, they're just making poor decisions with the puck. As soon as they get the puck down low they should be thinking of ways to get it out, but often times they seem to content to fiddle around behind the net or slash a Duck as if to say, "Hey. You. You have the puck and you're in our zone. You're mean."
-
You know, you can blame the officiating, but the bottom line is this: The Wings had plenty of chances to do it on the PP and they failed to convert. Again. Also, it was only a matter of time before our tendency to dick around in our own zone came back to bite us in the ass like this. If I'm Babs, I'm going to make them watch every one of Anaheim's outlet scenarios from this game. Crisp pass to a winger on the boards, another crisp pass to a guy shooting up neutral ice. That's the way it should be done. Detroit, on the other hand -- it's always got to be flashy with them, whether it's needlessly wrapping around your own goal or deciding to take on two bodies instead of just slapping the damn puck up the boards. Ridiculous.

Words fail me.
-
How huge is this.
-
You do realize the rest of the broadcast team is staunchly anti-Wings, right?
-
Word. Ending 'em in OT will just break their hearts even more.
-
We'll get it back, we'll get it back.

Thanks, refs.

GOD. DAMN. IT.
