Could be. The jury's currently out tho. It's possible Yzerman is just trying to create a bit of roster flexibility and that sending Ericsson to Grand Rapids won't actually be a thing. Sounds like Ericsson's hip is bad enough that he pretty much can't play anymore (as many of us had assumed), so regardless of how this plays out, he's not going to be a factor on the ice anyway. With that being the case, I think I'd feel kinda icky about basically pressuring him into retirement. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I have to say, I've really warmed to Button over the years.

Yeah, not really disagreeing with him. I think Draisaitl is the better player now and there's a good chance he's going to end up being the better player, period. Still, I'd like to see what Matthews could do on McDavid's wing. Draisaitl's spent some quality time in that pocket and that's certainly helped his cause. I have zero love for Matthews. Just sayin'.

I love it for the anti-Leaf spice factor. But I'd like to see what Matthews could do playing on McDavid's wing.
