SHOOT ON NET AND IT GOES IN WONDER OF WONDERS

Datsyuk and half our team for Thornton.
-
Remember when the Datsyuk-Thornton trade idea was swirling around?

PINCH. FOR THE LOVE GOD, PINCH.
-
We need an extra man coming down on the forecheck if we're going to get any sustained pressure.
-
We're not going anywhere playing this way.
-
I didn't think we could be more wretched than we were in game 1. Well, apparently we can.
-
That had a big hand in it, but I certainly wouldn't call that the underlying reason. Ultimately, we just weren't smart, whether it was holding off on perfect shot opportunities in favor of a misguided wraparound attempt; faking shots to get a Shark on the ice, then firing the puck into that fallen Shark's chest anyway; or getting too fancy with the passing as we transitioned out of our zone and into neutral ice. We really missed Homer; someone needs to stir some s*** up in front of Nabby and distract a d-man or two, and he's obviously the only one on the team who's willing and able to do that effectively and consistently.

Not really. Standing on your head is what Kipper did last round.
-
Their big bodies didn't mean much in our zone, but they (coupled with our innumerable brain farts) did wonders in their own zone, blocking shots and forcing our guys to work along the perimeter.
-
The Sharks deserve credit; they took advantage of their chances and slipped right into lockdown mode for the rest of the night. Boring, but it worked. The Wings, on the other hand, should be beaten with blunt objects and forced to read The Idiot's Guide to Hockey before Saturday. Every aspect of our play was absolutely horrible.

Fans are booing. Good.

My point exactly.

The worst part of this is that San Jose is not playing an especially great game. Actually, I guess that's a positive.
-
With the way their brains are operating, you could probably tell them they're going into the 4rd and they wouldn't say a thing.
-
We've lost some golden opportunities because we haven't shot the puck (see: Datsyuk, Bertuzzi, Franze, etc.)
-
If I see another rush where we hold off on the shot in favor of an impposible-angle attempt or weak-ass wraparound, I'm going to hurt someone.

FIRE. THE. PUCK.
