When did "discussion" become telling someone their opinion is worthless and not backing it up? Please contribute to the conversation (such as it is) or post in a different thread. And I'm with young guns on this one - Danny has more than proved his prowess, if not recently, and that only due to circumstances beyond his control. I'm just as emotionally invested in hockey if not more so than most, but even I think it's much, much too early in the season to be judging anyone.

Since when are sports fans rational? You can come up with a hundred reasons why Pens fans shouldn't despise Hossa, but it won't affect how they feel about it one iota. Sports fans are visceral creatures, not generally members of Mensa. (Except me, of course.)

Back on topic, please, gentlemen.

This forum is "top notch" and "cream of the crop" in large part due to people like the OP who help keep it that way. Whatever was he thinking asking for people to just take a few minutes and do a search before posting a topic or keep the sarcastic threads to a minimum during a very busy period on this site? The forums slow down a little during peak interest times, and the less posting of superfluous threads, the faster the forum for everyone. Thank you for your kind consideration and cooperation. We now return to our regularly scheduled programming.

Cheli was on 94.7 this morning. His knee surgery went perfectly and he'll be in game shape come September. It's a done deal that he'll sign for next year, but not sure what his role is. He is aware it will be in a diminished capacity and there are two different contracts from Holland on the table (terms not disclosed) but he's waiting to see who they sign. He wants the younger guys to get their playing time and mentioned Meech in particular needs to play 30 - 40 games, but thinks he has what it takes to make it in the NHL. They'll start with 8 defensemen in beginning. Stuart a question mark, as is Lilja. Kenny has stated he wants to find a veteran goalie. July 4th is his day with the Cup.

Update: I received another email from them about the book and medallions. It's the same form, etc., but it doesn't include the program this time around. Got my fingers crossed for everyone who needs to order online. You might want to think about ordering through Borders or something like that. I know they have them.

A little more info on who's doing the deciding: Election panel.

Anyone know if the Pittsburgh mayor and Kwame ever came up with a bet besides the one they intially tendered? I never heard anything about it after the mayor announced at the rally they had that Detroit bet the "Hockeytown" title even after he'd been informed it was a trademark and not on the table. Just wondering if they came up with something else.
-
I don't understand the delay. Borders had a table full of them right in front. How can they say they're "in production?"
-
Not a problem! I didn't realize it until I merged the threads. It automatically makes the first one created the main thread, that's how I knew. Anyway, update on this: The book is being carried by local bookstores so you can pick them up immediately. Good news is no shipping fees. Bad news is it doesn't come with the program.

With the beating Homer takes on a nightly basis, I have a lot more respect for him even than I did before. Can you imagine how much that must have bothered him throughout the playoffs?
-
Started mine first!

Updating my version of uTorrent and seeding as we speak.

It seems as though many wouldn't mind seeing him hang from the rafters.

I bet Ebay is lousy with them right about now.

WOO HOO! Some damn fine hockey these last two games. Way to go, Pens, for making this the series we all thought it would be in the beginning! And thanks to the respectful Pens fans who've been here for the ride. Hope you stick around.

He was probably just cleaning off the octopus matter for Al.

The Mullet looks to be headed to coach the Lightening. Whole new set of drinking games, folks! Not sure why the push for Barry. He's been out of the game for a while. Any insight from anyone as to why this would be a good move?

It's a shame for anyone to play during the regular season and be a part of our success as Presiden'ts Trophy winners and not be able to compete for the Cup. Most decent people would have compassion for anyone under those circumstances. Well, except maybe Pronger.

I met Aaron at Greektown after game 2. He was very unhappy about not playing in the finals, but he was very, very friendly and accomodating. Big, big man as well. He'll get his name on the Cup, but let's face it, it's not the same as actually playing in the finals. I feel for the guy.
-
Largest audience for game 2 on Versus since Wings played Hurricanes in '02. Link. I would say that the Pens fans were absolutely correct - the Wings haven't played a team like the Pens yet this year. I'm thinking (hoping?) we haven't actually played the Pens yet........

Tigers tickets are considerably cheaper. You can take 4 people to a game with a hot dog and a pop for 80 bucks. Cost of game 2 just for me alone: Ticket- $170.00 Parking- well, free. Got there early enough! Many people - $20.00 2 drinks at the game - $28.00 Bottled water - $3.00 Gas - quarter tank = $20.00 No food, no souvenirs. That's $221.00 just for me. Can't afford to take anyone with me!

I've never heard of this happening. It's their right, obviously, but I would consider this very poor sportsmanship. I was very happy there was a big contingent of Pens fans at the game Monday. I sat in the middle of a bunch of them. It added to the excitement of the game all the way around for me, and encourages Wings fans to be a little more vocal. I have to say I'm a little disappointed about this.
