I don't think it's fair to throw the word "fickle" around so much. You have to understand the excitement the Wings were generating back in the 90s. We went from perpetual cellar dwellers to a damn good team. That kind of turnaround and excitement is impossible to sustain. And there a many, many fans who came into hockey appreciation while the Wings were at their peak; first round exits seem heartbreaking to them rather than realizing making the playoffs for more than two decades is a real achievement to be savored. When I first started going to hockey games, you could pick your seat no matter what your tickets said. It was that empty. There are comparatively few fans still around from the 60s, 70s and 80s who were fortunate enough to watch the (painfully) slow rise to near-dynasty. There are far more post 80s fans now, and they are absolutely spoiled. It's going to take another serious Cup run to get people truly excited again. While I don't agree so much with that way of looking at the Wings and their success or perceived lack of it, I understand it.

While he is our official GDT Guru, he can't do every game and we'd love to see what other members come up with. Actually, maybe we should have a Tackiest GDT contest! I could be a serious contender for that one. Anyone want to challenge me? Winner gets a Wings fan pack. Not sure what exactly will be in it, but definitely a Wings clear bag, a glow stick from this season's home opener and a game-used puck. I'll shop around for a few other items to put in there. I'll unlock the thread and people can post their interest and legitimate suggestions for GDT contests.

The conspiracy aspect of this conversation is dubious at best topic-wise. Let's stick to the McDavid hit that did not earn a penalty. As always, feel free to start a conspiracy topic. There's also the ever-popular "referees suck" option.

I think that post was more of the "That was an average save" sarcastic type than disparaging the prowess of The Beard. At least that's what I choose to believe.

TML GM Lou Lamoriello has put the announcers on the no-fly list for the Leafs. They will call away games from a monitor. This will save approximately $200,000 per season. The team is owned by Rogers and Bell, who split the radio rights. It's been suggested the team could pay for the travel, but the money would still be coming out of their pocket, so I'm not sure that will happen. I'd be super pissed if I didn't get my Ken Daniels for away games. How much is Leafs Nation willing to put up with? How much goodwill has hiring Babcock earned them? And how long do you think it will be before LN finally declares they're mad as hell and they won't take it anymore?
