I still have not heard from Ilitch Charities regarding their "approval" of our donation. (Thanks to Vladifan for reminding me about this!) Those of you who wrote checks, do what you will. Stop payment, void it, forget about it, whatever you choose is fine. To those who sent money orders, I have no idea if you can report it lost and get your money back. Checks and money orders were sent to Ilitch Charities in April. I thought about donating the money to another charity; McCarty Foundation I believe is no longer functioning. Then I looked up charities in Michigan; there are many, many worthwhile charities in the area. The cash I collected totals $175. I don't see that $175 is going to make a whole lot of difference to them; however, I'm thinking of just handing the cash to some random family in Detroit. $175 could buy them groceries for a couple of weeks or pay their electric bill. What say you all?

Good news! I finally figured out a home for our donation. I sent it to standup2cancer. After completing the donation, they give you the opportunity to name a star in someone's honor. I chose Craig McCarty. It's not a huge deal, but I thought it was kind of cool. Only problem is, it shows my name, which I would have preferred it not and showed Darren's instead. Oh, well. George Malik has coined my new favorite term - "TaliBettman." LOVE IT! Everything about this offseason has been, well, off. Signings taking forever, CBA talks moving along like a rookie trying to learn how to drive a clutch. Can't take a whole lot more.

Per MLive, he will play this season, whether it's for the NHL or the KHL, but wants to play for a championship. Can't say that I blame him, but what if there's only a partial lockout?

I have players I don't really care for, but my hatred is reserved for a select few: 1) Bertuzzi - still don't like him. 2) Chelios - Took me 3 years to get used to him. 3) Derian Hatcher - SO happy he left almost immediately. 4) Uwe Krupp - absolute waste of skin 5) Tootoo - he'll be the second third coming of Bert to me; I'll probably never accept him in a Wings sweater.

Yeah, Gary couldn't shovel that fast enough, could he? I remember making a comment about redesigning the logo, something to the effect of "oh, yeah, that's what's wrong with the game. Fix that and it's all rainbows and puppies from here on out. The fans will come back in droves." I only hope the league and the players decide not to spit in the fans' faces again and work this out in a mature, reasonable manner as expeditiously as possible.

I wouldn't count on them televising it; the Wings/Hawks Alumni game wasn't televised. -
What's really crazy is that I was on the season ticket holder wait list for over 11 years before I got the letter in the mail. Now they're doing handsprings to get people to buy them. They've probably sold quite of few of the 20-game packages with this.

Oh, that that unnamed team would have presented a sizable offer. Am I the only one who if I have disdain for a player, the disdain remains even after they sign with the Wings? To me, they're either a good/respectable/desirable player and potential acquisition or they're not, no matter who they play for. I don't think Holland has lost any "moxie". I think he miscalculated on things like availability and timelines and is guilty of being unprepared, but once he woke up, he did everything he could. That lapse in judgement aside, I'll still keep him. For now. *evil grin* -
