Analysis: Price for players Wings might want is going up quickly
Hatcher#2 replied to Mighty Wings's topic in General
I thought about that and thats why i put /Williams. Yes to Zubrus, this the kind of line of thought that Holland should be following, under the radar trades that no one else is thinking about or has mentioned. If by the deadline Holland has added Modin, Lapointe and Mayers then i will be extremely happy. -
Analysis: Price for players Wings might want is going up quickly

The Wings have a good chance at going deep this season if Holland can add a few players at the deadline, i really don't think Holland needs to break the bank either to get the right guys. Owen Nolan, Chris Clark and Gary Roberts are the 3 guys that i want Holland to be focusing on, Guerin is the perfect fit right now but St Louis know this and they won't give him away for cheap. Tkachuk is entriguing but he has been a playoff flop throughout his career, would a last shot at the cup motivate him? Nolan or Roberts would fit nicely to the second line and should be relatively cheap. Looking to the 3rd and fourth lines i really would feel that much more happy going into the playoffs if we added one guy to each of these lines. The guys that i would like to see brought in for the 3rd line are Jamal Mayers, Chris Gratton or Marty Lapointe. For the fourth line i would like to see Todd Fedoruk, Georges Laraque or Shawn Thornton from Anaheim, these guys are enforcers but they have a different dimension to their game that most enforcers dont have which allows them to play even on the top 2 lines if you are looking for room up there. All of the guys mentioned should be available for current roster players, mid level prospects and/or picks. Now that Phoenix has Doan signed up Nolan should be very available i would make a pitch to them for both Nolan and Laraque, Offer them up a package of Lang/Williams, Meech and a 2nd/3rd rounder. I would offer a similar package to the Panthers for Roberts and Gratton. Lapointe or Mayers should be available for a 3rd rounder. -
I wouldn't have a problem with sending Schneider to phoenix for Boynton or to the Hawks for Jim Vandermeer.
-
I would gladly pay Laraque $1.2M, he is by far the toughest guy in the league and he can put up points, 21 points and a +6 rating on a terrible team is pretty damn good.

Booter had a rough start to the season point wise but he has been nothing less than solid the last 20 games. He has 7 points in the last 4 games (4 goals 3 assists) and the coach has even came out and said that he is by far the Griffins best player at the moment. He is hitting, fighting, killing penalties and scoring. Get Langfeld off the roster and see what Booter can do before we give picks/prospects away for someone with a similar style to Bootlands.

Newbury of the Leafs taken out on a stretcher
Hatcher#2 replied to HockeyCrazy3033's topic in General
I like Newbury alot but thats what happens when you lead with your chin, he should have had his chin tucked in if he is going to go toe to toe. Great showing from Petrovicky, he showed me alot in this fight. Im pretty sure the soccer mom's will be all over this one. -
Yeah you gotta love that name, he was a camp tryout who played in the rookie tournament 2 seasons ago, he got alot of media attention when he was here. Alot of people wanted the Wings to sign but they never did, he gave an interview after camp and he said that the Wings told him to work on his game and that they would keep an eye on him and see how he progresses. The game was in Michigan last night and he certainly put on a dominating show, both with his fists and with his play.

Yes Eager and Tkachuk would do nicely. Forsberg is risky and he is definately not my first choice, but going by the recent articles, if Forsberg plays the whole of February injury free, then it isn't totally out of the question that he will be a Wing by the deadline.
-
Yes, if the Wings can get a guy like Tucker im sure it would start a ripple affect with this team, a guy with Tuckers energy always gets the crowd going with his hits and the rest of the team feed off the reaction from the crowd and follow suit, maybe this is what guys like Maltby need.
-
Is this the season that the Wings finally get harder to play against or will Holland add someone that he thinks brings grit to the lineup but we know he doesn't i.e a lilja type. I really believe Holland will come through this time, maybe a package of Forsberg+Eager or Tkachuk/Guerin+Mayers/Drake.

SFE: Wings looking at 'star player' by deadline
Hatcher#2 replied to Mighty Wings's topic in General
Close to Draper's salary . So we would take a cap hit of less than half of that, absolute bargain. -

What is Roberts salary for this season? -

I will be very happy with Holland if he gets Lapointe back in the Winged wheel at the deadline, he would be a solid addition. Any one of Doan/Nagy/Tkachuk/Bertuzzi/Roberts/Nolan + Lapointe and i will be much more confident heading into the playoffs. -
I like May, he plays a solid all round game and he can fight. I like Bretton Stamler aswell, 6'1 207 stay at home physical d-man who can also fight but i can't see the Wings signing them both.
-
He has dropped the gloves twice this year but he does play a very rugged aggressive style in front of his crease and sometimes he goes a little overboard and takes alot of crosschecking and roughing penalties. He is a little undisciplined but i like the way he plays.

Ericsson is getting better and better every game, it's nice to see a prospect with his size and he knows how to use it.
-
I am really liking the look of this kid. What i liked from those highlights was that the second hit was against the guy that hit him. He seems to be the kind of player that takes the number and gets the guy back.

He is still out with a back injury.

NHL notebook: Devils, Wings have draft science down
Hatcher#2 replied to GetYourRedOn!'s topic in Prospects
I am liking the look of Ericsson, Quincey, Ryno, Matthias and Olson (sp). I just wish they would have drafted Latendresse when they had the chance. -
The thing that started that wasn't even in the same league as what Mitchell did. Anyway you have one tough team when you can put out a line of Brashear, Bradley and Erskine. There were 3 fights in the Tampa game aswell.
-
Yeah, you gotta love Barnaby. His fights are always entertaining, it doesn't matter if he is getting beat or if he is winning he still laughs his way through the fight and you can always hear him screaming for the refs to stay out. There have been some great fights so far.
-
I was actually very surprised by how agile and mobile Ericsson is for his size, if he doesn't make it to the Nhl it certainly won't be because of his skating. I see no reason why he can't make it to the Nhl and at the rate in which he is learning and progressing it could be pretty soon.
