Last night Jonathan Ericsson showed me the mean streak that i have been hearing he has. He took out one of the Milwaukee Admiral players with a hip check, the player lay on the ice for a while before he was helped off the ice never to return. Straight after the hit he was challenged by an admiral player and he showed me that he can back up his actions pretty well with his fists if the need arises. He left the game with a knee injury and he never returned.

Orr vs Janssen will be a contender for fight of the year for sure, Janssen is one the toughest and most fearless guys in the league. For his size he does one hell of job against the guys he fights. Every time he fights his opponent has at least 20 pounds on him. Boogaard vs Laraque was a bit of a let down, Laraque is just so strong that when he gets a grip it's so hard to get anything free against him. McCarty is too old now, it's hard to watch him fight guys like Salvador and get a draw.
-
Oh believe me ive thought about that, but by the time these guys are hopefully ready to step into the Wings team im not expecting Holland to be here.
-
Tardif was drafted 112th overall by Calgary in the 2003 draft. I really like the look of this guy and i hope Holland signs him. He had alot of invites from Nhl teams this year but he chose the Wings.
-
Doea anyone know if the Wings are planning on bring him over to play in the rookie tournament this year? it would be interesting to see how he performs.
-
Exactly right, To me the most obvious choice to be traded is Schneider, Jonsson is a younger, bigger, more defensively sound Schneider and he will come cheaper. For me personally i feel that it doesn't make any sense to keep Schneider around if Jonsson is signed. If Schneider is kept around that would mean that the Wings would have 5 offensive defenseman dreesed every night, it doesn't make sense.
-
LOL, seriously though, i am convinced that if this signing is Jonsson then one of the Wings current D-men is on the way out.
-
It could be a trade that is almost complete, so it could be Sarich or maybe even Souray.
-
Thats why i think there is more to this signing than meets the eye. Someone is on their way out.
-
Do any of you guys think that this means that someone from the current D will be traded? This signing will give the Wings 7 d-men and that physical defenseman that Holland talks about hasn't been signed yet, so assuming Holland does sign another guy thats 8 on the big squad.

Kenny Jonsson will be playing on the top pairing with Lidstrom this season.
-
Thats the thing Lou, the Wings have the advantage over the other two teams because the Habs really want Lang so that they can play him on a line with Kovalev. I can't see a reason not to do this trade, the thing that i like about Souray is that he is only 30. He still has a good 4 to 6 years left in him. Personally i would be all over this if i was Holland.
-
I would definately do this. There are more pro's than cons for the Wings in this deal.
-
Nope, there is no way Detroit gets that kind of prospect unless they are figuring someone else in on the deal. That doesn't mean they can't ask though. Nobody wants to play in Montreal due to the high tax so they have to trade in order to improve and get new players, other GM's will be asking for alot in return because they know how bad the situation.
-
I heard it was blue chip prospects or picks the Wings were looking for for Lang. Any of those would do nicely.
-
Unbelievable, if this is true Holland better tell this greedy ass where to go. Lidstrom and Ozzy take hometown discounts so that Holland has a little extra cash to use and this guy uses it all up when he knows that the team needs to improve in other positions. He doesn't even need the money. I wouldn't really be bothered if the guy showed up in the playoffs and earned his money but he doesn't. $3 million sounds about right to me. I hope he goes to the Rangers or the Habs or at the very least Holland should sign him and then trade him in a package deal to the Habs for Komisarek and Souray.
-
Hudler had crossed my mind but i was going on the "second line player" comment. Schneider makes the most sense to me, i thought Buffalo was deep at the forward position but they needed a pp quarter back. It would be great to dump Draper's salary but he has a no trade clause. I don't see him going anywhere.
-
He posted that Jarko Ruttu to the penguins before it was announced anywhere else. This rumor could very well be true aswell and it doesn't say anywhere on his site that it's a second line centre, it will probably be williams.
-
I'll take him, Holland should use the extra money to improve the rest of the team instead of blowing it on one goalie like Nabokov.
-
Yeah i read that aswell but Hockeysfuture has him as a physical player: "Axelsson has great size and is an aggressive and physical player. He has good timing in his hits. His skating, the intensity he plays with and his forechecking is quite good. Axelsson's main asset is his hockey sense and he is good at finding passing openings. At the same time he is a good scorer. Technical skills and hands are good. There is room for improvement when it comes to his defensive game and his acceleration." You have to be somewhat physical and aggressive to recieve roughing calls and misconducts even if you don't drop the gloves.
-
lol, i would personally go after Witt aswell he has more of an edge to him and he can back it up aswell.
-
Nice find Heaton, who do you pick up Salei or Witt or both?

Heres another good read with a couple of opinions on the big guy: http://www.thisweek-online.com/2006/january/27oslund.html
