You just need to be patient against Kane. He waits for you to make the first move and will shoot by you. Patience is the key! -

How the hell didn't Kindl play the body there and went for the puck? Isn't it hockey 101 when the guys coming straight to you all alone to play the body? -

signed Official: Howard signs 6-year, $31.8m contract extension
KrazyGangsta replied to matt198913's topic in General
Happy with the signing, now if we can get some decent #2 - 3 defensman on this team and another #1 sniper on the line could put us back on top! -
This is what I meant when I said in my first post that us Wings fan are spoiled. The team made the playoffs and you still complain, you are aware the team won't win a cup every year? Some other team aren't in the playoffs when we're in that first round of the playoffs or even second. I might as well have a team that's making the playoffs then a team seating in the bottom of the league.

Sure I'd like to see the Wings fire there GM's ... cant wait to see who's going to replace him ... might as well start a new thread from now. When is <Insert new GM name> going to get fired / going to retire! We Wings fans have been spoiled with all these great players. An era where there was no cap and would overpay anyone to get on the roster. People need to be realizing that this game has changed it's not the same. With the salary cap era it's really tough to put a team together that will be elite year after year. Be happy with all the success we've had thus far, be happier that we still have a chance making the playoffs. If it wasn't for Holland, 90% of this forum wouldn't have seen a stanley cup or two or three anyways. Overpaying & throwing away your future is not the key of success no longer in the NHL. Last I remember the last two stanley cups we didn't pick up a Gaborik / Jagr / Clowe / Iginla and still managed to win a cup. If you guys should be upset about something, be upset that we didn't go after Forsberg. Now for that I would agree with you. The reason we're not sellers and didn't ship off our UFA's is because this team is making the playoffs and they can make some noise with or without any additions. How many times have you guys seen #7-8 seeds going finals. Too all the people that want Holland fired, I'm so glad that you guys aren't running the show in Detroit or calling the calls for this organization or else we'd probably be exactly like the Leafs
-
So pathetic, why would he retire because he didn't want to over pay all these over hyped players that aren't even going help us win the cup. Reality check people, everyone knows even if we had traded there's not a player that's going to get this team to the stanley cup. Holland is just realistic and you guys must face the it too that this team is in rebuilding. Keeping draft pick and our prospects is more beneficial to us as then having players like Jagr & Iginla on the roster. I'm so happy that Holland didn't overpay anyone or that he didn't do any trade at all. Truth be told there's not one player that was on the trade block or could of been traded for which is worth it this year. You guys think this is back in the days when there's no salary cap we can trade our picks and prospects and get some talent as fast and as easy as it was before. Think again, the game's changed and the salary cap makes decision tougher, the only way to stay competitive over year and year is to keep building up with the draft and keeping your core intact. If you go spend money on FA's and ship off your prospect, you will be dead last for the rest of your life.

I will keep pointing this out but the reality is this team will never win a cup with Howard in nets!
-
I would say I would rank our defense as it stands in the top 15-20 in the league considering that we're having a major youth movement and that rookie mistakes are bound to happen. How about you guys? Where do you see our defense ranking in between the 30 teams? Which players do you see taking a role as a leader on defense and stepping up?

Having watched both play, I'd have to go with Federov. I loved watching this guy fly on the ice. Datsyuk is up there as well but Federov is a notch above. Federov was faster then Datsyuk and has a harder slapshop. Federov has as good as hands as Datsyuk does. It doesn't really matter what era they played in, I mean if Federov was playing in the NHL now without all the hooking and grabbing he would probably be even better then he was in his time.
-
I love Datsyuk, his one the reasons that this team has been so successful. First of all we can't resign him now because he still has two years left, we'd have to wait until July 1st, 2013. Signing him threw out 2018 is not one that I'm for tho, I'm not a huge fan on 4-5 year contracts after the age of 35. Datsyuk is 34 and by the time his contract is out he will be 36. I would much rather see a 2 year deal when his contracts over and afterwards as time progresses go with 1 year deals just like we did with Lidstrom. Would be much more cap friendly for us.

You do realize what your referring here can't actually be referable. Cujo, only played 4 games in those playoffs. Other goalies played more then him so you can't refer to that and even in the series Cujo got outplayed by Giguerre. Our team didn't choke, we had chances that we're unbeleivable saves by Giguerre, he stepped up when he needed to and Cujo just couldn't compete at the same level.
-
Cujo, took over the reign from my favorite goalie and choked!
-
'09 loss to the Pens Game 7 '04 loss to the Ducks ... great team with Cujo in nets ... on top of that Federov left ... '07 loss to the Ducks ... game 7, where they gave Datsyuk the tripping penalty if I remember right  '99 loss to the Avs ... 3 time champ dream got flushed .... '95 loss to the Devs ... Anytime you lose in the finals it hurts ... For a team that has had a lot of success we sure had our heart breaking moments. I mean, sure we had more success then any other NHL team but our heart breaks have been much bigger then other teams due to the success we've seen. Look at our fan base, we had one bad off-season and everyone is about to burn the city down!

Apperantly Doan is looking for a 4 year 30 million dollar type of deal. Sad ... even at age 35 he still thinking $$$ not cups. If I'm him I'd sign with a favor to win the cup for cheaper. I guess him leaving 'Yotes proves what type of player he is!
-
Thank god Semin is not a Red Wings !!! Thank You !!! I'm so glad that this lazy player will not waste 7$ million of our Owner even if it's not being used.

Dominik Hasek's agent: "He will play, and he will excel"
KrazyGangsta replied to REDHASEK's topic in General
I knew he would come back, that's exactly why I still haven't changed my avatar. My favorite goalie hands down, but come on 48 and still wants to play in the NHL? This league has evolved it's a young mans league ! -

Very interesting read! Good Post!

Wouldn't mind Kane but what's up with everyone with the 10-13 years contracts. I would give a 5 years 5.5 - 6 / year. I wonder what there looking for in return, probably a roster player with two prospects and maybe even a draft pick!
-
Now everyone could be happier that they ended up going to Minny, thanks for quoting a message from the future. Exactly what the boards needed to calm things down.
