Per Sandmans rules does this not mean that whether Dats plays or not doesn't matter he is now a crybaby *****? (same logic he used re Toews when trainers reported to the press that he had the flu.)
-
Yzerman was without doubt a whiner. What separates guys like Y and Toews from crybabies like Crosby is knowing when and why to complain. For Sandman; So Zetterberg's injury was reported in the press somewhere by someone correct? Sounds exactly like the Toews situation. How is one a stud and the other a crybaby? Been surfing here for quite some time. Lots of good hockey people along with you and ryan. ... Like I said lots of good hockey people AND THEN the 2 of you.
-
How did you know Zetterberg had a bad back? Toews didn't cry about a health issue, he was held out of practice and the press asked the coaching staff why. Using your logic since you knew Zetterberg had a bad back he either A) Wasn't tough enough to play through it and missed time. B) Was a (winy?) ***** crying about it. Which was it? It would be good to learn facts before making statements like you did otherwise you just might appear to be a moron.

Having read a few threads on this board today what you claim is not true. Attacks against the city of Chicago and it's people have been made and as of this minute not deleted. Simply put some of them are no different than some of you. I have however only seen 1 poster asking for a player from the other team to be injured and that was a wings fan.
-
You hope a player gets injured? Now where is the talk of classless fans?. Ryan, You and those like you (no matter what team the root for) are the worst of the worst. Beating everyone else ouot on the classless scale. I have to ask were you at the game when the Wing fan tossed the item that injured the hawk trainer? Did you cheer when it happened? Did you throw the item?

Sonny, based on you saying you are a ripe old 27 years of age you could have been as young as 11 when Probert left Detroit. Watching Batman and getting sent off to bed before the west coast games would even start. Please tell us all of your exceptional first hand knowledge of what it was during the Probert/Kocur heyday. As a very old and experienced hawks fan I suggest you take the advice some of the more savvy Wings fans here have offered.

I will lose major respect for Chicago fans if

I have only read this thread and the photoshop thread and laugh at the insinuation that it is hawk fans who lack class. Just like chicago, New York or any place else when some of you want to see a classless fan all you need is a mirror. That is of course just some of you. Also going to the teams message board for material is spotty. Check out the series thread at the HF site. Lots of good fans from both teams. The one thing I found humorous was the bandwagontown quip on the other thread. Some of you (younger folk I am guessing) have no idea that Chicago (hockey team and fan wise) is pretty much a carbon copy of Detroit. Detroit Great fan base in the 60's and early 70's (when I was young) and before. Fans tired of paying good money for inferior product stopped going. New ownership brings hope to some and some fans return. Young stars (Yzerman!!) bring hope to some and some fans return. Great young talented group starts winning and the place fills. The fact is the red wings couldn't draw flies through the 1970's until the mid/late 80's (exempting new arena) when they started to win. I have a puck from the Olympia that was gained by running an entire section over and 5 rows down (as a 6 year old) because their were about 5500 in the building. So by your definition pretty much all of you are bandwagon fans. Chicago Great fan base from 60's (as far back as I go) until the mid 90's, teams were regularly competitive Fans tired of paying good money for inferior product stopped going. (hated owner and poor policies) New ownership (death of WWW) brings hope to some that goal would be more than "making playoffs and filling seats" some fans return. Young stars (Toews!!!) bring hope to some and some fans return Great young talented group starts winning and the place fills. Hawks couldn't draw flies from mid 90's until last year. If you really want to know why check the Bob Pulford drafts from 1981 to 1996. By the early 90's the talent from the Tommy Ivan drafts from 72 to 1980 (and especially 1980) was old or gone and nothing was in the pipeline. I don't consider either group of fans as being band wagon fans. In fact in Chicago it was noted that something like 40% of new (non corporate) season ticket sales were to people who had them at some point in the past and let them go. In fact Detroit actually needed a winner for fans to return, Hawk fans started filling the place late last year for a non playoff team as soon as the owner died and Pulford was sent to Siberia. Wings should win this, I think most Hawk fans and players know that. I am impressed with the fact hawk players WANTED to play the wings. Should they find a way to win they will have slayed the dragon that they MUST defeat. If they don't they know it will be a valuable lesson for this group of kids in their early 20's and they will move forward. While i of course hope the Hawks win I hope for a good series. One thing nobody can deny is that the 2009 NHL playoffs have overall been the best in at least a decade. Take care. One more thing (while I live in Florida I wanted to touch on what some of you thought was relevent data about the 2 locales. Chicago has over 3x the population of Detroit. Cook County has over 2.5 x the population of Wayne County. Many factories and private employers in the Chicagoland area are located in DuPage, Kane and Lake counties (especially DuPage). Chicago is more residential than Detroit. This would mean that City and County services (as well as education) would be the major employers. In contrast Detroit has more factories in the city and more people living outside the city. This would lessen the need for services. As for the Federal Govt. Pretty much every major branch of the federal govt. has an office in the Dirkson federal building in downtown Chicago, also the location of a federal courthouse and prison. -
That's about the dumbest thing I have read in quite some time. A Red Wing fan threw an object from the stands that struck a hawks trainer in the face. CLASS ALL CLASS.
-
Hawk fans don't say Red Wings suck, they say Detroit sucks. While I live in Florida I have been to Detroit on business several times ... I can't say they are lying.

Bill Wirtz memorial/moment of silence booed by Blackhawk fans
Brevard replied to Wings_Fan_In_Exile's topic in General
Not even close. Imagine 50 years of Matt Millen. I have lived in Chicago for 2 different periods in my life and have spent significant time in Detroit as well (reside in Florida now). I find some (most) of what you folks say to be pretty humorous and also either biased or uneducated. To say all Chicagoans ran Bartman out of town or beat up KC Royals coaches is equiviient to me suggesting you all burn your houses down on devils night and are equally responsible for the fact your city is one of the most dangerous anywhere in the US or the planet for that matter and has a violent crime rate that exceeds that of Iraq (us news). Hockey fans bought a ticket to a hockey game and did what hockey fans do. The Wirtz family was stupid to EVEN try to have any type of memorial before a game. He was hated in Chicago by hockey fans, he did more to singlehandedly remove Chicago from actual cup contention when they had good teams than any owner in any sport I can think of. He got from Chicago hockey fans only what he deserved. -
A big soft 3rd liner, A big soft 3rd pair D-man and a big soft minor leaguer for Doan and a pick? ... Earth to wing fan, come in Wing fan.

Actually as noted when he signed Joe Sakic is his idol, that is why he wears #19. It was a big deal for him this weekend to get to meet Sakic after the morning skate prior to the Av's game in Chicago. The press covering it said the kid was shaking and stuttering.
