Since he's been a player of interest around these parts, I thought it was a worthwhile thread. http://www.cbssports.com/nhl/blog/eye-on-hockey/21988845/oilers-re-sign-potential-trade-target-ladislav-smid-for-four-years-14-million Darren Dreger notes that the deal does not feature a NTC/NMC.

There aren't going to be any legends in attendance, are there?
-
Yeah, he was high on my wish list even if I can't manage to spell his name right. I think a shut down defenseman would do wonders for the d corps.

I completely understand where everyone is coming from, but Holland was quoted as saying that he'd "see how the next 6 games" went - right? Now that they're currently standing at 7th in the West, could anyone see the flip side of the coin where management decides that this fringe team isn't worth making deadline acquisitions?

What a great performance by the team with Mr. Hockey in the house. Good to see they stepped it up for such a big game on national television. Here's to Opening Day.

Right? Bring on Monday.

Trade Huskins to Flyers for conditional 7th rd pick (2014)
Travis replied to nyqvististhefuture's topic in General
The new CBA allows for salary retention in trades so, similar to baseball, the Flames could and likely would eat some of his contract. -
A different angle of the girl in his avatar. Bikini, but enough on display that you wouldn't want to be in this thread at work.

I'll be happy to see the other thread fall away. Very interested to see how he'll fit into the lineup.

Malik has. @georgemalik: Red Bird III is flying over Vegas, and there's no news to bet upon about DeKeyser. http://flightaware.com/live/flight/N682RW … (Flightaware's N682RW page).

I don't even understand what's happening here. Assuming the Wings land DeKeyser, yes they'd have 10. Should that be the case I think that White and Huskins are likely candidates - along with Colaiacovo to either sit, be traded, or get waived. I wouldn't be surprised to see them go after JBo either.

Somewhat bittersweet read. Per ESPN.

If you happen to need a small, SportsK has you covered. http://www.sportsk.com/custom-player-ccm-redwing-jerseys.html Or, if you were to find a blank CCM in your size on eBay, you could send it to SportsK for lettering, they do a great job.

Well if DeKeyser was waiting for drama or attention, he might as well pack it in. Verlander already took care of that.

I understand that he's young, but I've only got 2 years on him - so it's not as though I'm some out of touch grouch. I've gone to parties, but no, I've never gotten fall down drunk at one. I've also never exploited my star status into being the center of attention at any parties. Comparing our lives isn't really fair or necessary, we live two totally different ones. That said, he comes across like a dick. If he were a regular guy with the same track record I would consider him just another *******, which is worthy of his clown designation in my book.

Big news coming from the Tigers today, it looks like. @Buster_ESPN: Hearing rumblings of major news... More to come. @JustinVerlander: Today is going to be a great day. Big news coming! I'm guessing Verlander becomes the Major League's first $200mil pitcher. edit: I'm good.

Kukla's Korner suggested last night that Holland stayed in the Midwest instead of joining the team after his pitch to Dekeyser. LET THE RAMPANT SPECULATION BEG... err continue.

Here's hoping we all find out soon.

I don't think Santiago is long for his role with the Tigers. Worth has earned his spot on the team, but finds himself out of luck because of his remaining options. I also don't expect Tuiasosopo to stick around too long. Myself, I hope the Tigers sign Casper Wells to platoon with Dirks - should he be released by Seattle. It would have been nice to see Rondon make it, but he's simply not ready. It would also have been nice to have a contingency plan. Despite the capable arms in the bullpen, the Tigers' pen is set up to have pitchers designated by inning and situation, without a 9th inning man it throws the rest of the bullpen out of whack. That said, they still have plenty of time to come up with a solution — Dombrowski even mentioned having Smyly come in around the 6th inning and pitch the rest of the game through, which I would be very interested in.

If you already purchased tickets you were given the opportunity to reserve the seats for 2014. In sure they will open it up for new sales too, though, as a number of people - myself included - did not renew their tickets.

Hahaha. Well the photo is from 2008.

Helluva move by Pittsburgh. I'm not even mad - I'm impressed.

The Bruins feel like the most logical fit to me, as well. Aside from the obvious facts that we've seen tonight, I just couldn't see him in a Hawks or Pens sweater.
