Guerin was on the phone with the TSN guys and said he was not given a choice of teams to go to. They only gave up a prospect and a pick. There were no roster players involved.

If he didn't have another year at over 2 mil per season, he'd be a great 3rd line addition, but he's way overpaid these days (has been ever since he left Detroit).

Ansar Kahn weighs in: MacDonald put on waivers; precursor to a trade? The Wings announced that goaltender Joey MacDonald has been placed on waivers Friday afternoon. He has until Saturday afternoon to clear, which he likely will, and then he can be assigned to Grand Rapids (AHL). It appears the Wings are clearing up some salary cap space, or perhaps a roster spot, for a move or two before Tuesday's trading deadline. Even though MacDonald doesn't make much, the Wings would be right up against the cap if they acquired a $5 million-plus player like Keith Tkachuk or Todd Bertuzzi without clearing a little space. The timing is odd because you'd figure they'd want MacDonald to back-up Chris Osgood Saturday in Nashville instead of bringing Dominik Hasek along on the trip. MacDonald might still be around. If he clears waivers, the team doesn't have to send him down right away, or even at all. Bill Guerin or Tkachuk of the Blues still appears to be at the top of their wish list. Florida's Bertuzzi, who had back surgery in November, might not play before Tuesday, which might kill any potential trade possibilty.

Yeah, that'd be great. I could possibly get some playoff tickets. I'd agree that we need to try and avoid San Jose/Anaheim as we've not fared well against either team this season. The one thing I will point out is that I think the fight for Central supremacy will help us tremendously. Last year we coasted down the final stretch and we just were not hungry enough. If it goes down to the wire (especially playing so many games against Nashville), we'll be better prepared.

What a load of s***. It's one thing to be a knowledgeable hockey fan that knows when a team sucks or not, but quite another to be a homer that says any other team sucks. I bleed red, and not just because I'm a normal human, but I would never sit here and tell you that the Predators suck. They obviously don't, and I don't need some stupid poster's manifest to tell me that. s***, I can look at the standings and tell you that.

Hell, the University of Texas (my alma mater no less) has a hockey team. Granted, the ones I've played against in pick-up games are a bunch of pansy-ass cry-babies. I think they're just an intramural/club team anyway.

I'd agree to some extent (and I believe there was a whole thread devoted to this topic at one point), but they had a hard time selling out that nice new barn they have there even before they pulled this stunt. I've seen many Wings games there in Phoenix because I have family there and I don't think any of them were ever sellouts. Why on earth would a franchise (that's now part of a CBA that promotes overall league growth) turn hockey fans away? I say make 'em pay for it.
