Are the Wings ever that accessible here in Michigan? I dont get down to Detroit very often being that im in the U.P. but if there was ever events like that I would gladly make it down a little more often....

On 2/3 of NHL Teams would not hesitate to retire Feds number. Detroit has a lot of numbers retired already. When you read off all the names hanging from the rafters of the Joe and then say "Fedorov" it just doesnt feel like it belongs. It has nothing to do with it being a Russian Name. He just isnt in the same category as everyone else. If he was still playing in Detroit today and he was 75% the player he was in his prime, then I would say he would be retired. That would have given him roughly 20 seasons. If he left Detroit and put up the same type of numbers he did in Detroit, there would still probably be a case to retire his jersey. But he left Detroit and has been Mediocore at best. He is on the 3/4th line for the Blue Jackets. Brett Hull had his number retired in St Louis, where he definitely played his best hockey. He left St Louis and still played very very well on other teams. Shanahan left St Louis, where he again probably played his best hockey and has done very well for other teams. I imagine Shanahans number will be retired in St Louis.

I dont really understand the point of this article, this isnt even a rumor, this is a writers wishful thinking. It is by a USA Today writer, but besides Hossa having a good game against Detroit what else is pointing towards Hossa becoming a Redwing? Unless there is some more behind the scenes stuff going on that Kevin Allen knows about but has not reported yet. Then the writer goes on to say that he thinks Anaheim or Ottawa are in a better position to acquire him then Detroit. But how is any of this news? (and how does Anaheim have room in the salary cap for him? The author suggests Anaheim has high picks and prospects to trade, but that does not free up any space) The Wings have stated they are happy with there offense and do not want to change things, although they would not hesitate to trade for Hossa if the price was right.

Supposidly the NHL did a study to see what color nets were the least vision obtrusive and black was the easiest to see through. That being said the white nets in the photos definitely seem easier to see through then the black nets, I also realize that the camera and the human eyes perspective are slightly different. But to me it just seems like the NHL cant get anything right.... including something as simple as what color a net should be...

I did read somewhere, I dont remember where sorry for lack of the source, that Howard might get the start on Sunday, I realize that is a might, but if he can get a game or two in the NHL over the next couple of weeks, that will be great experience for him. Not trying to hijack this thread, but what ever happend to there Swedish goaltending prospect, I forget his name right now, but I see he is not on the Griffins roster, I assume he returned to the SEL?

I agree, more patience is needed, and this is how the Wings Coaches/Staff have been looking at it, they have left cap room to pick up somebody else at the deadline if they need too. The Wings didnt go into this season with out a plan B, Sure they talked up these three guys, and they put a lot of pressure on them. Over the next few months we will see if any/all of them step up, if not, Im sure at least one of them will be gone at the trade deadline.

There are many different reasons why a player can be considered a bust. When Lindros was healthy he was a very good player, but how often was Lindros healthy? A player with all that skill being out so much because of injuries, I call that a bust.... One of the biggest busts of all time, that might be a stretch, one of the most disappointing big name players in the 90's/2000's is a fitting title, again not because of his skill/ability. You can have all the skill in the world, but if you cant be healthy enough to use it, it doesn't do anyone anygood.

I know they have college football, they carried the Stanford vs USC game. I dont know if they have the PAC10 Conference or not, and I think they had some college basketball last year...

The fight strap on the jersey pretty much in end to that, another ingenious idea by the league. You never seen someone pull a jersey over someones head anymore. Another side note: more people now aactually tighten there helmet to there head. Back when Helmets had just become mandatory people were keeping the chin strap very loose.

I use my phone for internet very rarely, but it is a quickly growing trend. It would probably be easier to set up now then to go back and add it later, and then stuck with old entries that are not compliant with the mobile stuf. I bought a smartphone with a very large screen to try to make things like web browsing easier, but it is still a pain on a 2.5" screen.

Thanks for the file, it works much better then the infuze stuff.....

Anyone know whereRoman Cechmanek is at? I have a Cechmanek Goal Stick, and I love it, he was fairly tall so the stick was long and it worked will for me. Now hes gone, and I have not found another goal stick I like as much as that one... Nevermind, I found it hes playing in the Czech Republic

It was stated last year, that Howard was good enough to be a backup, but they would much rather have him playing games in the AHL then riding the pine in the NHL. I think Howard is coming along just fine, and they just dont want to rush him. Another example is Dipietrio, he probably could have spent more time in the minors, instead he played for several years when he shouldn't have.

I drove by Joe and Louis's Penalty Box a couple of months ago and it was still open. I have ate there a few times its a typical sportsbar/restaurant. It has pretty good food, and was very reasonably priced, lots of great Redwings Memorabilia on the wall. I hear about Kocur being there fairly often, but he hasnt been there when I have... or at least that I know of...

Goalie: Helmet: I have an Itech Helmet its about 10 years old now, it has definitely held up for the 10 years that I have had it, I have been looking at some new ones, I have been eyeing an Ollie helmet, I have a big head, and heard there masks are very roomie. Legs/Blocker/Glove TThey are Heaton Helite Z 2 I got an awesome deal on them from Peranis, I really like them, even though they were considered a cheaper pad. I have had no durability or performance problems with them. I play with some people who have really hard shots, rarely get a stinger in the glove. Chest/Arms Buar Pro Chest, I bought it two years ago, and it had sat around Peranis for a while when I bought it, so again got a steal on it. By a steal I mean $200 but the original tag was $400 Pants Itech 4.8 these were the middle level pants, tried them on side by side with the 9.8s (the pro modell) and preffered the feel of the 4.8 Stick Itech , dont remember the exact model. I used to love the Heaton Helite IV Goal S icks, but cant find them anymore... Skates: Baur Reactor 3000, I am really happy with them, they are much more comfortable then my CCM goal skates, Sorry for the type's I am on a laptop that randomly moves the cursor, I have not got the problem corrected yet, so sometimes it moves the cursor when im typing, and I dont always catch it in time...

The wings had the best D inh the league last season, they still had the best d after losing Kronvall, and after losing Schnieder that arguably still would have the #r1 or #2 defense. And they did not win the championship.

Its a seniority thing, not necessarily seniority with a team but with the league, if Rafalski wants the number it is his, Kopecky doesnt have much say in the matter.
-
I hope Lang has an awsome season, not because I wanted him to have a break out year once he left the wings, but I think he was in the same boat as Ray Whitney, did really good as the main guy, then came to a team full of talent, and slipped away into obscurity.
-
is rafalski worth more to the wings then Schneider? I dont think they got a steal on Rafalski, they could have offered the same contract or even a little less to retain Schneider?
-
I started playing in High school, went to college, played drop in every night for the first two years. Took a break for two years then started playing Mens League and Drop in. I play goalie.

Serious Talks Of Expansion...And The Wings Moving East
wingsnut25 replied to Sleight's topic in General
im not in favor of expansion, but there is a nice arena in Kansas City, and they used to have a team, anyone know how well it did/didnt do? -
What does he do? I did here much about him after Babcock came in, did he go back to video tape manager?
-
Well Detroit still has Hudler not playing. So he would be the first to get in, but im sure they would call up another forward to take his place.

Pang is one of the few analysts who ever give Detroit a chance, I know he has been buddies with Yzerman for a long time, but I remember in 97 he was the only one to pick Detroit over Philly...
