I have heard zetterberg is not happy in detroit. I could see it happening. I like zetterberg and would hate to see him go but smyth would be a good guy to get.

I dont think you want to go the whole season with just ozzie. I think howard will be a great goalie but he is not ready to step up to the nhl yet. The wings had to upgrade from ozzie years ago because he couldnt hack it, and that was with a much better team in front of him.Better hang onto legace.

I read this on hockey trade rumors also, but I dont see it happening unless wings dont think they can get zetterberg signed.I really think datsyuk will be the one to get traded.

I dont put much stock in this rumor but if it did happen there is no way Kolzig would be backing up ozzy. If datsyuk wants lang money,which is what I am hearing I would definitely trade him.Maybe dats and manny for Kolzig and witt.

I didn't necessarily want Gratton, to me, it was the principle. He was worth a gamble for sub 1mm, IMHO.

I have watched and played hockey for many years.No I do not think it will stop players from targetting our stars but it will slow it down some. Guys like hatcher, domi, worrell,among many others will always hit, cheapshot, or do whatever they want because they have no fear or are players who know that is what they are getting paid for. It will stop some and send a message that the wings are not just going to lie down and take it.

Having a guy who can fight on the 4th line will impact our win/loss record by protecting our stars. Whats to stop a player from targeting our stars and giving them cheap shots if there is no one who can keep them in line. Our star players will all be beat up and not able to play at 100%.

ok, so your problem is I used hatcher as an example. I get the point you dont like him. Dont worry he's not on the team anymore. there are plenty of guys out there that can fight and be a solid 4th liner.

Hatcher did put fear into people. I would put him in the heavyweight category for fighters and this is what I'm talking about. NOt how well he played D. The fact he was on the Ice kept players in line when they saw someone with their heads down and could really cream them, they might think twice knowing he could be on the ice. I agree we need grit. a guy like gratton ( just an example) would have filled that need great. I hope we sign a couple of guys like that, but Wings need a heavyweight.

Barnes52 your 100% right wings need to get tougher. Wings players will get hurt this year with no one to put fear in the other team. The wings have been to soft for years now and this year will be even worse with hatcher and McCarty gone.Time to get some size, even if he rides the pine most of the game its good to be able to throw a guy out who can set the other team strait if things get out of hand. Besides the days of rolling 4 lines are over we can afford to have a fighter on the bench.

exactly, the wings got ozzie so they would have two goalies to push each other to play well. As for the cujo rumor I dont see it happening unless he comes dirt cheap and a trade is in place for manny or ozzie. But I think Eklund is full of s**t.
