GDT 12/12 GDT: Red Wings 1 at Lightning 2 (SO)
Spongewingredpants replied to MabusIncarnate's topic in General
I know i will be lambasted for saying this but boy would it be nice to have Brunner in the shootout. I bet we would have won half of these games. -
Injured Weiss, out Thursday (apparent groin/ab issue)
Spongewingredpants replied to DatsyukToZetterberg's topic in General
it will be interesting to see if it makes a difference if Weiss is in the lineup. The Cynic in me says....not so much -
just read he was out due to a groin injury. never have i been less worried. i don't think it makes a difference if he is in the lineup or out
-
we have so many horrible contracts, Weiss doesn't even make the top three
-
its the Uwe Krupp reboot
-
Yikes In point of fact, but for a few games to start the season, Weiss has been all but irrelevant in Detroit. Weiss is currently centering Detroit's fourth line along with fellow underwhelming teammates Mikael Samuelsson and Dan Cleary. With a collective price tag of $9.65 million, this is easily the most expensive fourth line in the NHL. http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1874909-stephen-weiss-is-playing-his-way-into-a-compliance-buyout-this-summer?utm_source=newsletter&utm_medium=newsletter&utm_campaign=detroit-red-wings

Do Quincey and Smith have a future in Detroit?
Spongewingredpants replied to nyqvististhefuture's topic in General
i hope not -
injured Zetterberg out at least 2 weeks with herniated disc
Spongewingredpants replied to 13dangledangle's topic in General
i have had a herniated disc ever since the army. pretty much turned me into a involuntary whimp. pretty much nothing else kills a mans ability to be a man. the doctor even told me i should never lift more than lbs 30 which pretty much means i can't lift anything. These news could really suck. i hold faith that he is in better share than i ever was. hope that helps -

and it begins.... welcome to the NHL Griffins -
On this Thanksgiving weekend I am thankful that we get to see Franzen for 7 more years

if Holland doesn't do any boneheaded signings next year, we would have 15 million in cap space to replenish the gaps in the roster. 15 million is what we get by saying good bye to Cleary, Bertuzzi, Quincey, Sammy and Alfredsson The only must sign guy is DD of course, at least 2 of these above will be resigned, you can bet on it
-
i guess i am impatient. Brunner got all kinds of flak when he wasn't producing as a rookie in the NHL las season. Weiss costs 2 x more and we should be patient? Am I saying Brunner would be better now? Not really, the guy is lost in Jersey. But it seems that Weiss is lost in Detroit.

I think we should sign Rick Nash to a 7 year contract. he just scored his second goal of the season for the Rangers

lines threads are great on paper. in reality, Babcock likes Clearly

Signed Ericsson re-signed 6-yrs $4.25 mill AAV
Spongewingredpants replied to Ekmanc's topic in General
why is my first reaction in the last 5 years every time the Wings sign somebody.....that they overpaid. I don't claim to be an expert i just think that in general we overpay for middle talent yet can't land big talent -
i hate to burts the bubble but Detroit is no longer the choice of designation for highly coveted FA's. Every big contract we signed were for guys north of 38
-
our top scorers are approaching 40 or are and are young guys are either benched to riding the shuttle bus back and forth to Grand Rapids Meanwhile Cleary gets up every morning to get ready for the next game.....
-
i have nothing to say there than good luck Adrian

Holland: The wings are still learning about the Eastern conference
Spongewingredpants posted a topic in General
http://www.freep.com/article/20131111/SPORTS05/311110023/detroit-red-wings-ken-holland-eastern-conference odd? what is there to learn when you have a better record in the east and apparently the West is a tougher conference? sometimes GM BS just makes me shake my head lol...freudian slip "easter" -
Let's Get Stevie Y to Join the Alumni!
Spongewingredpants replied to stevieyalumni's topic in General
unfortunately, the captain seems to have no interest in this game. probably a combination of broken body and the fact that its too close to his retirement and he moved on. All of that I sort of get. Unfortunately, it does come across a bit as being arrogant. Just say why you can't play and people will move on -
http://bleacherreport.com/tb/dbG6J?utm_source=newsletter&utm_medium=newsletter&utm_campaign=detroit-red-wings Unfortunately, I can see how Mrazek could be sent back to the Griffins but I don't understand the timing and why this other dude got brought up Then again, I am not genius holland

it would be really weird if Yzerman was the only player not joining this. I think for the first time ever, I would be pissed at the icon of the Red Wings

Holland to Babs after the game... "the damn rookie scored the gwg. lets send him down and stick with veterans" -
These aren't the Vets you are looking for...
Spongewingredpants replied to LAWings's topic in General
