Looking at reminds me how stoked I am that we're moving east. I won't lose any sleep over not playing Pheonix, Dallas, San Jose, blah blah blah.

with trade deadline approaching - who's our tradeable assets?

I'm not saying we should trade our pick, as it might be a pretty good one but I think we should deal our 2nd because I actually think our cupboard is pretty stocked. -
Lol...Windsor Wings, that would be rediculous. I told my Wife our 2012 Focus got sideswiped at work today...it didn't go over well. Lol. That said, I heard Datsyuk has told Kenny that he doesnt like Russia anymore. Too cold. He's never going back...ever.

I don't care if he was trolling us...this made me laugh. I don't mean to be a pain but the whole province of Quebec just turned white hot in righteous anger.

I'm not saying it could happen but you do have to look at the fact that Filppula is much younger, has room to grow offensively, and could be resigned for his prime years. That plus the fact that Boston needs and want to counter Pittsburgh's moves and the cards are in our favor. Iginla also hurt his value to Calgary by choosing four teams...so essentially the asking price never got to where it probably could have. That said, we still should have been able to get a first for Filppula. Especially Boston's likely 25-30.

I don't think he was even insinuating that. Plus, Manny is Suter's "hometown" or close to it, so I think played a huge factor. I really think Iginla is just tired of losing and wants to win now, for real.
-
This. If I was Suter, I would almost certainly chose Minnesota if that were my hometown. That said, if you lived outside of Southeast Michigan, Michigan is a great state for a lot of reasons. A lot of what makes Michigan great thoufh could be found in Minnesota too.
-
I think the thing with Suter that gets lost is that, essentially if not for his "hometown team", he would almost certainly be a Red Wing. Everything about this team and its future looks different if Suter would have signed here.

Are the Islanders still sniffin' around a playoff spot tho? If not, we should be able to get Visnovsky relatively cheap.
-
I'm down. It shouldn't cost much and I think he'd be good here.

Potatoes gonna potate. Reiteraters gonna reiterate. ...or whatever. I think Holland and co. are in danger of losing the luster if they don't go a little above and beyond what they're doing now. We've built a reputation, but were in danger of letting it slip. The Penguins, no matter how much I dislike them, have recognized that this is a very important year for them and they went out and did something about it. I feel that Kenny has been afraid to do that and he should of in Lidstrom's last couple years. Now the players recognize that were a middle of the road team, they aren't begging to come here. Thats gotta change.

Fake toughest? John Torterella, Joe Thornton Legit toughest? Scotty Bowman Biggest clown? Marc Crawford, Mike Milbury, Ryan Kesler, James Wisniewski, Corey Perry, PATRICK KANE! Classiest? Henrik Lundquist

Lol...omgosh, anyone listen to Blashill at the end of that clip? Sounds like he's trying to mock/do his best impression of Babcock.
-
Wow. There are a ton of Wings fans there.

Considering that we're moving to the East, I wonder if we could pick up Boyle. I really think getting a top 4 puck-moving defenseman would make arguably as much of an impact here as almost anyone we could get would. We've played a style that demands good, puck moving defenseman for ao long and now were short on them...Boyle would have to come cheaper than Iginla too.
-
Comparing Iginla to Datsyuk doesn't fly with me. I believe Datsyuk is still, somehow and against all previous wisdom, growing as a player. The play quite different games and I think Iginla will age much more like a typical NHL forward. So much of Dastyuks game is in his head though and I think that is going to stick around longer.

If there's this kind of frenzy to sign this kid all over the league, and he's generally regarded to be a top 6 guy now, lets just assume that he's better than Lashoff. I dont understand why they wouldnt give Schultz a spot, especially given the fact that im sure the organization seen the lockout coming. But i believe part of the difference is right now we know what we have and can make a better informed decision, whereas in the summer its hard to promise a kid who has never played a pro game a spot when you have 8 defenseman with NHL experience.
-
Yep. Its damage control really, try to lessen then chance of ruining or hampering a prospects development. The Wings can't afford to do that with their high level prospects.
-
By young, I mean not over 35....if Iginla was 31-32 I'd be all about it. I just think its all downslope from here with him.
-
I don't think the Wings are Jerome Iginla away from they cup. He's up there too...I'm not sure how many good seasons he has left. If we are going to throw good prospects at a player, it truly needs to be a very good defenceman. If we do get a forward I really hope he's younger

I was thinking right but typed wrong...my bad.

I find this extremely insightful...I'm probably going to message you later and praise your knowledge of the mysteries of hockeydom....had enough yet? Lol In all seriousness tho, I would say that saying Pierre Lebrun is the walking encyclopedia of hockey is a stretch, at best. I don't hate on him as much as other people but he does kind of annoy me.
