Totally a gangster. Wysh on what we're sellin': Likely available: D Mike Green (32, UFA, $6M); G Petr Mrazek (26, RFA, $4M); Xavier Ouellet (24, 2019 UFA, $1.25M); LW/RW Tomas Tatar (27, 2021 UFA, $5.3M); LW/RW Gustav Nyquist (28, 2019 UFA, $4.75M, no-trade clause). Would they actually deal... Andreas Athanasiou (23, RFA, $1,387,500)? The speedy winger is putting up the best per-game numbers in his career, and is coming off a bitter contract impasse with GM Ken Holland. Deadline game plan: Trading Green. There's going to be a robust market for the veteran, puck-moving defenseman, with the Lightning and the Maple Leafs among the suitors -- two teams that could end up facing each other in Round 1 of the playoffs. If the Wings can't pull at least what the Blues got for Kevin Shattenkirk last season, it'll be a whiff. Keep in mind that wherever Mrazek ends up for the rest of the season, that team can walk away from him in the summer during arbitration. Tatar is, for my money, a better player than Nyquist, and has no trade protection. But he also has the higher average annual value on his contract and the longer commitment. Not for nothing, but Dallas GM Jim Nill and Tampa Bay GM Steve Yzerman were with Detroit when these two were drafted. Best-case scenario: The Wings find there's a bidding war for Green, and get above-market value for him.

MURKED BY MURSAK https://nypost.com/2018/02/14/us-hockey-chokes-away-opener-to-slovenia/ whoops. old news. sorry BinMucker.

Cholo is coming whether DK is on the roster or not. I think he should stick around. OH GOD YES. FINALLY.

This is Lefty to a tee. No offense, man, but... Every. Single. Year. All of those moves make sense. I wish Helmer's contract was a year (ideally two) year(s) shorter. I don't disagree with revamping the D roster completely... but Kronner and Ericsson aren't going anywhere... so there's no true revamping of the d-squad AND I don't understand moving the one guy who might actually turn it around. I don't think he sucks SO BADLY that he's beyond a quick u-turn... and I do think putting him with a proper partner makes him at least a little more palatable even when he's playing poorly. Lol. You guys are funny. I mean, I know you don't believe it, but even thinking Holland has the skill at this point to pull of Tavares and Karlsson, plus this team having the luck to draw #1. Just ain't gonna happen mates. Hell, we're more likely to make the goddamned playoffs than any of our wet dream fantasies about free agency and the draft happening.

TRADE THE TEAM!! KICK 'EM ALL TO THE CURB!!
-
I guess this isn't so much a rumor as a terrible take. From WIIM: So, we would trade DDK for an expiring contract and Markstrom or Nilsson? Why in the hell would we do that!? He's not THAT terrible.

I think Bruce meant to say FEW teams have interest in Danny DeKeyser.

2/9 GDT Red Wings at Islanders 7:00 PM EST. RIP Brenden Smith edition.

This was a great sequence of each player getting at each other pretty intensely... that ended in an 'only decent' tilt. -

That game was a s*** show. We deserved to lose it in RT. Sure, Clutterbuck is a weenie and the homer in me says "No way that's deserving of a major penalty" ...but the Wings deserved every goal that was scored on that major. Just flat fell apart. Garbage fire. Also, I noticed earlier in the day that the Red Wings page mentioned something along the lines of "PK much improved with the return of Abdelkader, Helm, and Glendennning" uh. yeah. sure. -
Right? With Faulk you know what you're getting... AA's upper limit is still debatable/TBD ... No brainer. Couldn't possibly be that easy.
-
Take this for what it's worth -- speculation at best. https://www.wingingitinmotown.com/2018/2/7/16986354/trade-rumors-elliotte-friedman-speculates-on-potential-athanasiou-trade-with-hurricanes Faulk for Athanasiou. I'd probably do it.

#stealthtank ...'cuz there's gonna be a slaughter of Red Wedding proportions?

NSH has a pretty deep defensive corp and a lot of nice defensive prospects (so, i've heard) Make it happen Kenny!!

HYPE!

There's rumblings that Mrazek might be getting the start tonight.

Seems as if we're pretty okay without 'em, eh?

You get Glenndenninnng instead.

TBD. Certainly playing better/being used more effectively with the Jets. When I say, "Keeping the core of Buff, Trouba, Morrissey, and Kulikov intact" I mean specifically for the near future. I mean only that Enstrom and Meyers are less likely to remain a Jet than Kulikov.
-
Enstrom's contract is up this summer. Meyers the following summer. Kulikov in 2020. I imagine that Cheveldayoff will be looking to keep that core of Buf, Trouba, Morrissey, and Kulikov intact. Chevy seems to have set himself up nicely to re:up appropriately, as needed. If the Jets keep up their good play, don't see why any of those aforementioned guys are necessarily looking elsewhere for a payday when they've got a team that might be Cup bound in the next few years. With that in the cards, Chevy may be able to re-sign either Enstrom or Meyers for less than the $5+ million they're currently pulling down. Toby seems like a good egg and will probably stay with the team if he doesn't price himself out. If anyone is getting traded, I'd say it's Meyers.
-
$6.5 million/year for 8 years ain't that expensive for a guy of Fowler's caliber. He'll be the Ducks anchor for the foreseeable future with Lindholm and Manson under contract until '22. Montour is a pending RFA, Bieksa and Beauchemin UFA this off season. The Ducks D is solid. Regarding Trouba -- Listening to Marek and Friedman's 31 Thoughts Podcast... they were talking about buyers and sellers and specifically the defensive market. They specifically addressed Winnipeg's defense, wondering if they might look at trading Buff. Trouba and Morrissey are "killing it" ...but can you trade Buff if you don't know if you're keeping Trouba? Buff is under contract for three more years. Can you afford to trade him before you know that Trouba is staying? Sure, the Jets kept winning when Buff was out of the lineup... but if Trouba doesn't stay, your right side then goes from Trouba, Buff, Meyers... to Meyers and what?? I'm sure Trouba is much happier these days. He's playing really well and is getting the ice time he so coveted before his bridge deal. Their team looks good and should be in the hunt for the foreseeable future. Winnipeg should get to extending him as soon as possible.

That game was not hype.
