I think that's part of his problem. Too much going on in that puny brain of his. He forgets he's not as good as he is because he thinks about how much he's getting paid, and tries to do something fancy or out of his skill-set. Gets burned. Takes bad penalty.

I just can't wrap my head around that cap hit enough to admit that maybe he doesn't suck as hard as I think he does. Pretty sure if you were to do some research you could find that I was okay with the Wings going after Dion... back in the day... but certainly not for his current $7million cap hit.

...and here's the thing CRL. It's totally do-able. This upcoming season should totally be the Jimmy/Petr show. ...and why not the next? ...and maybe the year after that too. Do I want to be paying two goalies $9million against the cap? No. ...but then again, why the hell not? Neither of these guys is hurting further player development, nor are they the singular reason behind winning or losing games. Figure out who's the real deal... or maybe, just maybe, they realize that they need each other to win... decide that they each can get paid $4million and everyone lives happily ever after.

I see what you're saying kliq, but I really hope this is not what they see. Even if Mrazek is a guy who's always going to be a 1A/1B type goalie, you gotta keep him over Howie... If there's anyone on the team where we know "exactly what they are indicative of" it's Jimmy Howard. I don't think I need to regurgitate all the pros/cons of Howard, but for clarity's sake, I am not a guy who thinks we need to jettison Howard as quickly as possible or at any/all costs.

Never suggested that these guys are future top line guys, but I'm gonna get to the crux of my argument about guys like Nosek, Lil' Bert, and Frk (to a lesser extent) real quick-like... You don't build a playoff team with only first line players. Do we need to concentrate on the top-six? Drafting. Developing. Trading-for. Absolutely. Should we just poo-poo any bright spots in the bottom six? No way.

No. It would be stupid for him to do something like that. It's not as if Mrazek has claimed the throne as our number one. Expose Howard. Nothing more. Vegas will be selecting Fleury for their #1. It's practically written on the wall. If we're "paying" Vegas for anything it should be to take Ericsson off our hands. My guess is Helm is a goner.

Bertuzzi-Nosek-Frk a hit with Griffins; what about the Red Wings http://www.freep.com/story/sports/nhl/red-wings/2017/06/14/detroit-red-wings-prospects/395732001/ Helene St James' article in the Freep today about how the Wings should consider the Bert-Nosek-Frk line in its entirety. (At least for exhibition games in the Fall.) She doesn't suggest, in the slightest, that this line would do wonders for the Wings as an intact line, but rather lays out the reasons why each might get a shot at the roster in the fall. As we are all aware, Frk will have to go through waivers... can he earn a spot? Nosek has to go through waivers as well. He certainly seems like he's played well enough for a spot in his stint with the Wings this year. Especially if we lose a forward in the expansion draft. Lil' Bert is the one who is least likely to start with the Wings in the Fall. Same as it always is when it comes to the prospects making the team: Waiver eligibility, "earning a spot," injuries, and spot on the depth chart. No hyperbole. No false narratives. Just the facts.

I don't know if he'll make the team out of camp, probably depends on his waiver situation, and how our roster situation looks more than anything else but, if we were to make the playoffs, one guy we know needs to be up is Tyler Bertuzzi. Kid is a beast in the playoffs.

I don't disagree with the overall sentiment, but the bolded ain't too far from the truth. You gotta imagine there's a lot of folks in the building that don't know the first thing about hockey but are supporting the team because they're in the playoffs. Maybe the playoffs will build some new fans. It's what every franchise hopes for in the end, no?
