We have two fantastic goaltenders that folks want to fruitlessly scrutinize to no end. I disagree with the idea that one should get more starts than the other or that one is better than the other. Nit picking their stats is pointless. Each have had great games and each have had poor games. Mrazek is a great young goaltender and Jimmy Howard despite the fact that he isn't elite, isn't getting traded. There. Is that better? Is that more along the lines of something you'd like robo? I do believe, unless it's detrimental to the board or discussion in general, that telling somebody "how to fan" is also "against the rules." I will retract my "/close thread" comment because you know, I wouldn't want a mod to misunderstand and take my statement to heart, when I was merely joking. Especially with all of the pull that I have around here, right BIll??? ...but seriously, lighten up. Do you see the nature of about 90% of my posting... total tongue in cheek sarcasm. Don't like it. Well, yes. Of course. Reality is: It's always a team win or a team loss. Mrazek or Howard could have no goals against, but if the team didn't score any goals then the game would still be going. ...but we've been saying "You can't win scoring 1 goal." and yet, here we are... talking about a goalie battle. Which is NOT the problem. Let 'em battle. Have them push each other to be better. ...but lets not pretend that Jimmy Howard or Petr Mrazek are the issue with this team.

Agreed! Whether it's a pure 50/50 split, 60/40, 55/45, 57/43 - no matter the ratio! - having two goalies that can play well night in and night out without needing six consecutive starts to "get in a groove" or whatever is great. Sure, would it be nice to have Howard's cap space to go grab a top-flight defenseman and in the future, might it become necessary to move Jimmy once we need to increase Mrazek's pay, sure! Should we complain about it now? Worry endlessly about "who's the starter?" Hell no.
