Voynov pleads "No Contest" to Domestic Violence Charge
e_prime replied to e_prime's topic in General
Did know whether I should start a new topic or not so I just added to the thread I already created. Voynov headed back to Russia. Rich Hammond @Rich_Hammond 22m22 minutes ago Full statement from Rolland Hedges, Voynov's lawyer: Pierre LeBrun @Real_ESPNLeBrun 14m14 minutes ago Now we'll see what the Kings do with Voynov's contract. I suppose they could suspend him in order to retain his rights... We'll see 25 retweets 20 favorites James Mirtle @mirtle 12m12 minutes agoKings now have $4.8-million in cap space pending what happens with Mike Richards. Chris Johnston @reporterchris 13m13 minutes ago Slava Voynov had $19.25M in actual dollars owed on the remaining four years of his contract ... #LAKings now off the hook. Elliotte Friedman @FriedgeHNIC 6m6 minutes ago As of now, Voynov's contract has not been voided. So, we will see how this proceeds. The Los Angeles Kings have issued the following statement in regards to Slava Voynov. >> http://kings.nhl.com/club/news.htm?id=779399 … 9 retweets LOS ANGELES – On July 2, Slava Voynov entered a plea of no contest to domestic violence. Since that development, Mr. Voynov has been in the custody of the Seal Beach Detention Center and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. During this period of detention, the Los Angeles Kings decided he would no longer play for the team. The method by which we would ensure this outcome was something we carefully considered and we established a deadline of September 17 – the beginning of our 2015-16 training camp – to reach this outcome. Recently it became evident to us that our conclusion to this process would be to terminate Mr. Voynov’s Standard Player’s Contract. However, Mr. Voynov’s announcement today of his intention to leave the United States and return to Russia makes the termination unnecessary. As we have publicly stated since Mr. Voynov’s arrest last year, the Kings organization will not tolerate domestic violence. As part of that commitment, we will soon announce a series of new Conduct Awareness Training Initiatives that reflect the values and principles central to our franchise. Pierre LeBrun @Real_ESPNLeBrun 2m2 minutes ago So what the Kings are saying is that they were going to terminate his contract a la Mike Richards but don't need to now because he's leaving re LeBrun @Real_ESPNLeBrun 1m1 minute ago So as I speculated earlier, the play would appear to be to suspend Voynov and retain his NHL rights while he's gone to Russia -
The all center line returns in "new and improved?" form? I wonder who?

Which in all likelihood, they'll have to be repeating next year if they want to re-sign any of their free-agents.
-
Actually, they have nine. Scroll down and see left sidebar on generalfanager (link below) http://www.generalfanager.com/teams/carolina-hurricanes One additional first rounder (in 2016) and two additional third rounders (1 in 2016/1 in 2017) Meanwhile, Chicago has a measly four picks in the first three round over the next two drafts 2016 - 1st and 3rd 2017 - 1st and 2nd Looks like Chicago is still trying to eek enough space out to sign Kreuger. Almost there guys. LOL. Didn't see the tweets that they signed Kreuger right after to a one-year deal. Wonder who they'll be jettisoning next year to sign Shaw, Seabrook, and again... Kreuger.

Not sure who it'll be to... but I too am predicting a loss in the ECF.
-
I mean, clearly it's not the end of the world, but what kind of message are you sending the besides a "wake up call." They certainly now know loud and clearly that their organization will allow the Boston media to s*** all over them. Great jorb, guize.

Brad Boyes joins Glencross and Setoguchi in TOR on a PTO. Chris Johnston ✔ @reporterchris The #leafs will have at least three PTOs in camp: Brad Boyes (as @andystrickland first reported) joins Curtis Glencross and Devin Setoguchi. 2:33 PM - 10 Sep 2015

General Fanager @generalfanager 4m4 minutes ago There are now 10 players that made more than $1M last season signed to PTOs, 28 players in total: http://www.generalfanager.com/professional-tryouts …

I was going to say... I think he has a Franzen fixation, not a Franson fixation. TBH I don't think Lefty is any more fixated on Franson than anyone else... he WAS one of the key UFAs going into the offseason.

Mike Richard's Contract Terminated (Not Bought Out)
e_prime replied to P. Marlowe's topic in General
Honestly, I'm surprised it took this long for the NHLPA to file the grievance. -
General Fanager retweeted WAR On Ice @war_on_ice 5m5 minutes ago WAR On Ice retweeted New York Rangers 1 yr. $800k. WAR On Ice added, New York Rangers @NYRangers OFFICIAL: #NYR have agreed to terms with free agent forward Jarret Stoll. James Mirtle @mirtle 58s59 seconds agoWith his off-ice legal issues, Stoll comes cheap at under $1-million for one year. Could end up being good redemption story.
-
Exactly, I think teams are really taking a close look at who they've got in their system before they go out and spend a couple million on a player that may not add that much difference to their roster than what they've already got for a helluva lot cheaper. Ehrhoff's deal last year was $4 million, not $1 million. Thru 'ye olde rumour mill', he's still linked to the Jackets, but they've got under $4 million worth of cap space to work with. Franson is rumored to end up in Boston, but they're all caught up in the numbers game as well.

Complain about direction thread has taken... further comments continue to push thread further away from topic thread. NEVER LET ME DOWN LGW. NEVER. LET. ME. DOWN. On top of the big names that are still out there like Ehrhoff and Franson, it's amazing how many players are still out there. Guys that normally would get snapped up are languishing on the sidelines for seemingly much longer than normal. Or is it just me?

There you go. Spelling it out wasn't hard. I don't mean to pick on you specifically DD, but there's so much posting that goes on in these forums where humor is implied or sarcasm is implied or what have you... and it doesn't work because most people just aren't that funny nor do they really understand how sarcasm works. -
Elliotte Friedman @FriedgeHNIC 1m1 minute ago So, full trade as per @VanCanucks is Brandon Sutter and a third for Bonino, Clendenning and a second.

Holland doesn't expect to be busy this offseason
e_prime replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
What does that mean exactly? I'm not sure your post could be any more vague... Do you not think that WiiM does a decent job with opinion pieces? or Red Wings coverage in general? While I don't necessarily agree with the piece, I do think they do at least put some thought into their articles before posting them... As far as Holland and this off-season goes I think he did a good job at tempering expectations through the media, while acquiring some pieces that should make a difference this season and surprisingly cutting ties with some mistakes/easy re-sign options that he would normally jump all over -- Weiss/Zidlicky. His next "test" is going to be managing assets. Which players stay? Which players go? Do we move some vets to make room for younger players? This is going to determine Holland's viability as an NHL GM going forward. Will we be able to continually "rebuild on the fly" through asset management or will we end up having to go the TANK IT route because we don't have the players or the prospects to make the moves necessary to continually reload year in and year out. -
General Fanager @generalfanager 2m2 minutes ago EXTENSION Jakub Voracek (PHI) 8 yrs @ $8.25M per @frank_seravalli $4M raise from current cap hit.

Not a single one of those forwards interest me. The only way I'm taking on a forward is if we move a couple and it's for an upgrade. These guys just aren't going to make any difference. On D, the only two I had any interest were Franson and Ehrhoff... but that was before we got Green. The only way I'm interested in either of them now is if we could move Kindl and Ericsson's contract. Which just ain't likely to happen.
