NHLnumbers, GeneralFanager, and CapFriendly all have different cap totals and include different contracts in their totals. So, I used the contract numbers available (which are all correct) for the players that will probably be on the roster and a calculator. Also, you have to remember that we can be over the cap (forget the exact %) and just have to be compliant by the start of the season. I fully expect that we will be over until we trim the roster. I'm just pointing out that currently, we would be cap compliant with Franzen on the roster with Jurco and Pulks signed and with Marchenko and XO in GR. So, we don't have to fret too much about moving someone right away. -

With the following forwards/dmen + Howard and Mrazek we sit just over 67.5 million*. Dats, Zetterberg, Nyquist, Franzen, Richards, Tatar, Helm, Abdelkader, Miller, Sheahan, Glendening Green, Kronwall, Ericsson, Quincey, Smith, Kindl, Dekeyser $3.891 of space to sign Jurco, Pulkkinen. MORE than enough room. *This assumes that Franzen will start the season on the roster, that Andersson, Ferraro, XO, and Marchenko will all be in GR. So, we don't have to move a single player :siren: -

4.75 -- not too shabby. -

You know who's to say if me makes or doesn't make the fourth line? The coaching staff. You know who else has a say in it: Eric Tangradi. If he plays like a house on fire and beats out someone like Ferraro, so be it. I have no problem with him as a depth forward. It's a smart signing. Do I think he's going to get specific call ups play play specific "hard-edged, tougher" teams? No way in hell. I love big hits and fights, but I also want skill. A marriage of both would be phenomenal, but it's hard in this day and age when the league is shifting more and more towards skill. Big hits and fights are great, but just because we don't have someone that will drop the gloves doesn't make it pansy hockey. It's just the game now. You obviously haven't been around very long. I'm surprised Brian McGrattan hasn't been brought into the conversation yet.

Of course he does! Big is always better.

Man, some of you really need to lighten up and check the batteries on your sarcasm detectors. No one has seriously suggested that we give up on Pulkkinen and throw him in the bin. What people HAVE suggested is that if you could package Pulks with some players and picks for a better roster piece they'd do it without even blinking. Just as some in the past have suggested the same for Goose or Tatar. Nothing changes here at LGW, just the names slotted into the different roles. Tarasenko re-signs with the Blues (60 mill/8 years)
e_prime replied to frankgrimes's topic in General
7.5 million dollar cap-hit. Now the highest paid Blue. According to Andy Strickland, the Tarasenko deal breaks down as follows, starting in 2015-16 through 2022-23: $8 million in the first two years, $7 million in the next two, $9.5 million, then $5.5 million, then $9.5 million and then $5 million. Puck Daddy Notes: Interesting dips around the 2021-22 season, after which the Collective Bargaining Agreement expires. He makes $5.5 million the year before the next lockout and then $9.5 million during the lockout! -
So... Garbage Out/Talent In. Yeah... No. Not gonna happen. St. Louis, for example, isn't going to take our middling/marginal/third pairing/bottom 6 talent and give us Shattenkirk. It just doesn't work that way.

Ferraro, Callahan, Andersson. To me, they're pretty much interchangeable 4th liners. Does each guy bring a certain something that maybe the other doesn't? Sure. Barring a trade, Franzen's head, Datsyuk's ankle and Acts of God, at least two of these guys are going to hit waivers at the start of the season. Thankfully most teams are still figuring out their teams at that point so there aren't typically a whole lot of players claimed... Wost Case Scenario: Be prepared to lose at least one for jack squat. As far as Yandle and Franson go, I don't see Kenny making the moves to get either of these guys. The Rags aren't going to take scraps for Yandle... remember that they gave up John Moore, Anthony Duclair, a lottery protected 1st rounder in 2016, and second rounder in 2015... despite their need to clear cap space, moving him only clears 2.6 million. So, unless someone makes them a really good offer for him, I don't see the Rangers moving him. ...and we can't add ANYMORE defensemen unless we clear some out. Franson is still looking to get PAID, and despite what a lot of you think, probably deservedly so, but his window of opportunity is closing quickly. Ericsson has a modified NTC. His snarl is pretty weak too.

Boston signs a trio of forwards. BOSTON, MA - Boston Bruins General Manager Don Sweeney announced today, July 6, that the club has signed forward Jimmy Hayes to a three-year contract through the 2017-18 season worth a cap figure of $2,300,000, forward Brett Connolly to a one-year contract through the 2015-16 season worth a cap figure of $1,025,000 at the NHL level and forward Brandon DeFazio to a one-year, two-way contract through the 2015-16 season worth a cap figure of $575,000 at the NHL level. Hayes acquired after trading "the other" Smith and Marc Savard's contract to FLA. Connolly acquired last year from the Lightning for 2nd round picks in 2015 and 2016.

...don't forget some truculence and pugnacity.

I mean, I guess the topic title isn't "things you would REALISTICALLY like to see for 2015-16"

Some of you live in the most bipolar nightmarish dreamscapes imaginable. Imagine a world where Nyquist actually gets to arbitration, we walk away and sign Chris Stewart... then the nightmare passes and then you turn your head to the other side of the pillow and we're in the fluffy candy cloud-filled world where we can trade Smith, Kindl, and Quincey for picks and land Franson. Never wake me up.

signed Red Wings sign D Mike Green (3-years, $18-million)
e_prime replied to Dominator2005's topic in General
...but as pointed out by many on the board already, Detroit typically gets a deal done with players that choose arbitration before it ever gets to an arbitration hearing. So who cares about those teams that can't get things done without overpaying and greedy money grubbing players. Nyquist going the route of player elected arbitration does two things: 1. Shows that he wants to stay a Wing and is willing to negotiate in good faith that a fair deal will get done. 2. Keeps other teams from offer-sheeting him. -
Pretty sure, just like Buff in WIN, there has been some experimentation with Burns as a forward. Not for like, a whole season or anything... I was just pointing out that he's sometimes used as a forward.
-
Michalek, Zbynek -- went back to the desert. Looks like the Blues have signed Peter Harrold as well, bringing it up to 8 D-men signed besides their prospect depth. ...and doesn't the Sharks top 6 d-men depend on whether Burns is playing D or F?
