What changes do you think we'll see with Blashill?
e_prime replied to Z and D for the C's topic in General
While he may not be starting from scratch because he has knowledge of the players through coaching them to some extent... we at least know he won't be "stuck in his old ways" -
This. I mean, really, even if the Wings do sign him. It'll be a two way deal and he'd be first on the list to be sent down before anyone else, including Andersson, Callahan, or Ferraro.
-
Even if he's going to ultimately be on LITR, doesn't Franzen have to start the season on the 23 man roster? ...and barring a trade with Weiss still on the roster, plus the above line combos, you're going to be looking at 16 forwards ...not including Dan Cleary. So, unless he somehow dazzles/enchants/blackmails the brass at training camp, I don't see how Dan Cleary fits. Either way, on top of any Dan Cleary fears that we may have, we're either trading some forwards in a player swap, or we're exposing some guys to waivers when the roster cuts come at the beginning of the season. In my mind, barring any trades of the above it'll be two of the following three, in this order: 1. Andersson, 2. Callahan 3. Ferraro.

If you want to complain about players taking up spots and keeping youth from developing and playing... I'd be looking at the back end. Jakub Kindl comes to mind. -

Man, some of you really seem as if you'll be upset if Chicago wins the Cup this year. *seem not seen. -
Uh. How many games did he suit up for this year? right... So... Why would he be back? I mean, Maltby wanted to keep going... Draper... Holmstrom to some extent... When it's past due, Holland makes the right move. Lol. I mean, c'mon it's WELL past due...

SoaW has it right. UFAs and RFAs are not the same thing. The thing to remember is that even though an offer sheet can be made to the player, the team that has a player under the restricted tag of free agency has ultimate bargaining power. Just because Hamilton's agents think he's worth 7 million doesn't mean Boston is going to make him a 7 million dollar man-child. If Boston doesn't offer Hamilton 7 million and no team is willing to offer-sheet him... 7 million is just a dream number in some agents head... and lets be honest they're not going to offer him anywhere NEAR 7 million. Subban didn't get a big pay day in his first RFA years... didn't get an offer sheet. Hamilton is going to be exactly the same. Offer sheets get brought up EVERY year and EVERY year they don't happen. They're too risky. GMs can't afford to lose draft picks, most can't afford to offer big cap numbers to ensure a player will accept an offer sheet, and they can't afford to back another GM into cap hell without losing the ability to negotiate/trade with them at a later date or without the possibility of getting screwed over themselves with a retaliatory offer-sheet. After all this offer-sheet talk is said and done, in the end, Hamilton will get a 2 or 3 year bridge deal, at $3.5-4 million. Watch it happen.

Available always: Bell's Amber. Seasonal: Bell's Oberon. Sorry, these both have just made it to NY over the last year or so... so I'm a little Bells happy.

This. x1,000,000,000. I asked earlier in this thread, "How did Blash use Weiss in his conditioning stints with GR?" I wonder solely because, maybe Weiss gets a chance under Blash the way he didn't with Babcock... I mean, the guy did have some bright spots, some glimpses of his former self, and they were quickly buried* *Maybe deservedly. I don't really remember exactly how it all went down, but I have hopes for the guy. I hope he gets another chance and I hope he can show he's still a capable second line center. I'm not saying HE IS. I'm saying I hope he gets another chance at it and somehow pulls it off. -

6 goals against in the last two games... Hell, I'd be thinking about starting Talbot. -
No I think they mean, James "the guy who got his money and is probably looking to have a bounce back year with a new team" Wisniewski.

signed Dylan Larkin turning pro... will play for GR immediately

Players who might be available due to teams cap issues

Luckily Tampa will have a little bit of time before having to make that decision... also, we'll see if Stamkos is willing to take a discount to stay. -

Stamkos is going "home" to Toronto now that Babs is there. -

I can think of other cities that are probably more deserving of an NHL team than Newark. Hell, Hoboken is probably a better locale. -
