For once he wasn't seemingly flopping/selling.
-
Whether he's in that position or not, it's a secondary trait from what is born of necessity. I don't think we can undervalue the effect it is having... whether it's a desired situation or not. Nothing is going to change if the trade isn't there to be made. Additionally, Holland is not going to overpay in Free Agency for players that just aren't worth it. So, for as much as I want a trade to happen for a top defenseman... I doubt it will happen unless the right deal can be made. I, for one, am happy for that. On the flipside of that coin... Holland will probably re-sign Quincey which will lead to me having a heart-attack sometime during the playoff push next year.

Sarcasm or hard-core trolling... Fatty's known for it. For a legit #1 or #2... I might bite. ...but what team can just give away that caliber of defenseman for as F. Michael put it so well. "The epitome of hot/cold." Should be Kronwall or Alfie. Quincey's play more often than not gives me heart palpitations. Maybe I'm watching him too closely and I just expect him to make a blunder. Franzen is so frustrating for this reason. Love the cap-hit. Don't love the streakiness.

Frightening.

Fisher. Wilson. Gaustad. Sissions. Jarnkrok. Calle is already listed 5th on the Nashville depth chart at the center position... it's of little surprise to me that he's already being called up. He *might* have gotten a shot at a few games this season with all of the injuries, but no doubt he would have gone back down.\ --- Also, I don't see why we wouldn't bring Gustavsson back. He's been solid and can be had for a decent price, I'm sure.

Here's the full article, not just the Spector edits: http://www.theprovince.com/sports/Gallagher+Kassian+needs+Canucks+orbit+decent+shot/9632501/story.html There's a lot of suggestion here that doesn't necessarily pan out to much. No where does it say that Kassian was upset about the move. In fact, he said all the right things and is playing the good little soldier. I believe that there will be plenty of moves made in VAN during the offseason, but I'm guessing a young big boy like Kassian isn't part of any deals.

Works for both I guess... lol

The hug at the end isn't that impressive. They're practically hugging it out the entire fight. Well, at least between the flurry of blows.

Is the Real Brendan Smith Finally Starting the Show Up?
e_prime replied to NYC Wings Fanatic's topic in General
I'm not ready to give up on Smith just yet, but Kindl can get packed off to a team that has trouble signing players and/or is in re-build mode and can trade us a better defenseman - ASAP. -
Andersson breaks foot - down another center

Taking it to the Injury Thread -
Sign and... trade? Oh, wouldn't that be a nice change of pace for KH.
-
Starting to look that way. I know this will be viewed as blasphemous by some around here... but if we need to, I'd say throw Helm into the package that lands us a top-defenseman in the offseason. Kindl+Helm+prospect and/or pick to Buffalo for Ehrhoff.

Datsyuk is the magic man these days... not Ken Holland. (Somebody photoshop KH as a magician pulling #1D man of your choice out of a hat please!)

Trade Legwand to Detroit for Eaves, Jarnkrok + cond 3rd/2nd
e_prime replied to gcom007's topic in General
They become trade assets either during the off-season (TRADEFRENZY* and/or at the draft) *TSN will not sucker me into watching that this summer. -
Well our next opportunity comes in the off-season. It's GOTTA* happen. *don't even say anything, naysayers. I'm not listening.

Dude, I am as frustrated as you are with the fact that we were unable to get anything done on D move yesterday, but realistically... no real D moves were made yesterday. None. Nada. Zip. Zlich. Zero.
-
I don't know how he can be coaching this strategy with our D-corps we currently have... his strategy should be to keep the puck out of zone as much as possible, no matter the score... and to score as many goals as possible, no matter how injury plagued our current compliment of forwards happen to be. Also, telling Jimmy to freeze the puck and pull in as many rebounds as possible would be great too. You know, hockey basics.

Game #21: We pick up a point and are tied with Columbus with 69 pts. Around us: #lumbus loses. Washington loses. Tampa loses. Game #20 to 23 : Tomorrow night vs. NJD. A win sure would be swell.

Your optimism is a bright ray of sunshine on this cloudy day.

Trade Legwand to Detroit for Eaves, Jarnkrok + cond 3rd/2nd
e_prime replied to gcom007's topic in General
Why is it so hard for you (and others) to understand that the trades on D were just not there? Just because we all wanted a trade on D, doesn't mean that the deals were there. I saw a tweet yesterday that said the asking price from VAN on Edler was: Nyquist, high-end prospect, and a 1st. (How would you have felt about that trade nitf?) Later in the day there was a tweet that in reality, NONE of the VAN D were on the market. Not Edler, Not Bieksa. Not Garrison, Not Hamhuis. None of them. Sarcasm or not... if Holland wanted Meszaros all he would have had to do was offer an additional pick or a 2nd rounder. No need to move any prospect for him. I've said it before, and I'll say it again... NONE of the players moved yesterday are an upgrade over the players that we have or prospects we can call up from Grand Rapids. NOT A SINGLE ONE. -
Cool. I wasn't sure at first because in your previous post you said something about "using up a lot of patience" I do agree, it could be harder for him to get back, but I think the acquisition of Legwand takes some of that immediate pressure off of him. IN FACT, I think it helps alleviate a lot of pressure on a lot of players. ANY of our injured centers... or centers that are playing above their heads (Andersson at #1C. Helm at #2, etc.) Specifically with Weiss, when healthy he can be eased back in on the wing instead of plopping him back down at center and saying, "PERFORM DAMN IT!" ...because I'm sure in his mind, he's already telling himself he's gotta do it.

Thanks Harold. That's what I had seen today yesterday as well, Echolalia. I just wanted to compare what he had said previously to what he said today yesterday. It's not surprising to me at all that he made the move... and after 15 hours of sitting on it, I'm fine with it. It'll help us get into the playoffs and it gives us depth at center that we can truly use to our advantage heading into the off season and even into next season. --- Also, it was nice to see that Philly and Calgary were able to keep the Caps and Sens in check for us last night. Too bad Toronto was able to pick up some points. I do think that this year is again going to be as much about us winning as others losing. I hate it when it's like this. For example: Tonight it'd be great if we can win, and Buffalo, Boston, and Chicago also win. I know WE can only control whether we win or not, but I'm one to sit and watch the standings from day to day and gnaw my fingernails to nubs as we inch closer and closer to the playoffs. (...but that's just me.)
-
I'm sure that Weiss is just, if not more, frustrated by his injury and his inability to perform for the team, DD. So let's give him the benefit of the doubt when he comes back healthy that he'll do just what is needed. Kill it. If he can't. ...and we're talking about a player that's "broken." Then we'll definitely headed in a different direction with him. ...but he still deserves some patience. It's not as if he's faking injury or holding out on us.

Can someone point me to the quote where Holland says he's not going after a rental? I'm sure it exists, but I'd just like to have reference to it. Just as a sidenote: Babcock was quoted today with wanting to not lose young talent from within the locker-room. Specifically: Nyquist, Tatar, Sheahan, Jurco, Glendening, and DeKeyser. Calle falls outside of that realm, I guess. http://redwingsfront.wordpress.com/2014/03/05/according-to-babcock-dont-look-for-wings-to-part-with-any-young-assests-inside-the-locker-room/
