We're all die hard fans, but did anybody really believe we had a chance in this year's playoffs? We got hot to make it in, but all of our deficiencies, that were never addressed by management, are still there. I assume we'll see Bert and/or Sammy in game two.

They had all the cap room in the world this summer. Holland tried (and failed) for Parise and Suter, but where he really missed the ball was his total disinterest in Semin. Semin with Datsyuk would have us in the playoffs right now.

Classic Holland. Overvalues his own players. Under-values others. Expects players to take less money to play in Detroit. There is a large trend now, of players saying "no thanks" to Detroit. This was first mentioned publically by Winsewski 2 off-seasons ago, and it came home to roost with Suter and Parise. Holland will do nothing of significance this off-season either.

I bet this makes Datsyuk really want to stay!

Well if those are the going rates around the league, then I guess it's not double what they're worth. The market dictates what players are worth. It seems Mr. Holland wants to play in 2003's market and not 2013's. Yet another example of how he is past his prime.

I'd never trade any of these guys for Jagr, but I'd do it for Vanek and Pominville or Gaborik. But back to my original point ... where are these guys going to play? if not for injuries this year, we wouldn't have seen more than one of the kids that are up now up, at any given time. tatar might have come up for a bit, then nyquist, but none of the others for sure. we just have way too many guys backed up in the system.

Why do so many of you want Holland to horde prospects? After years of letting our prospects over-ripen in Grad Rapids, we literally have a glut of prospects. Where are any of these guys supposed to play? We could deal 5 of our prospects and never miss them. They barely have room to fit in Tatar and Nyquist - where are they going to put the other 10 guys that are in waiting? Make a mega-deal for Vanek/Stafford/Pominville. Give them are first two picks and 5 prospects. I don't care who ... Jurco, Jarnkrok, Sproul, Mursak, Tatar, Nyqvist, Sheehan, Oullet, the list goes on and on. They're not accomplishing anything if they're gonna be stuck in GR for the next 3 years.

Per Ansar Khan: "Mikael Samuelsson is out for Monday due to an upper-body injury that forced him to leave Sunday's game after the second period. Holland said Samuelsson will have tests done on Monday, but the club believes he is day-to-day. Samuelsson just returned after missing 19 games with a broken left index finger." I actually laughed out loud when I read that. Absolutely unbelievable!

It doesn't look like the Wings plan on even playing him that much this season. His delay in decision was likely because of that factor. I'm sure he'd play every game with Edmonton. Wings, true to form, seem to want to take it slow, per the article below. Does anybody else find Jimmy Devellano's comments in the TSN article a little bit tasteless, given the timing? "It's very sad, very, very sad," Red Wings vice president Jim Devellano told the Detroit Free Press. "He was a pretty popular player in Detroit in the '80s, and certainly one tough guy with a lot of ability. But unfortunately we never got 100% out of him because of his off ice problems."
