I no longer live in the Detroit area and will be making it to the Joe one last time this January. I have sat virtually everywhere in the upper bowl, lower bowl near the glass and so on but I wanted to ask everyone here who may have been to a lot more games than I have what would you say are the best seats in the Joe? I want to make this last time special. Assume budget isn't an issue. Thanks

0 Vezinas = no hall= no number retirement. Can you honestly say that Chris Osgood was one of the best goaltenders of all time? How many times did Roy or Broduer get benched in the prime of their careers, let alone ever? When was he ever among the elite goaltenders in any given year? He accumulated wins with a long career on a team that was going to dominate the regular season regardless of the goaltender. Remember 2005-2006, everyone likes to hate on Manny but didn't the wings collect 50+ wins that year? Doesn't that prove the wings were going to win in the regular season regardless of goaltender? Regarding the playoffs, goaltending was never really a strength or weakness, scoring goals was. When we succeeded in the playoffs it was when we scored at will, not when a goalie played lights out and we sqeaked out 2-1 wins. Chris Osgood may have 400+ wins, but he himself was never instrumental in those wins. You can't say that about the other tenders in the hall.

Maybe if you can find a way to take away his 6 Vezinas. I understand the point you are making, but it is apples and oranges. Dom was how old when that happened?

What hall of famer was benched in favor of the likes of Ty Conklin and Manny Legace? Or how about was told by his former team in his PRIME that his services were no longer needed by a GM who was in love with him?

Osgood was rarely the best goalie on his own team, let alone the league at any given time in his career. I guarantee he doesn't get into the hall, and as far as I am concerned being in the hall is a prerequisite for your jersey being retired.

But Lidstrom isn't currently under contract. Completely different situation.What bothers me is that you have to be retired, for what.. 3 years? Before you are eligible for the HHOF. He is absolutely not retired in any shape or form.

I still don't understand how Pronger can be inducted to the HOF before being technically retired. He could still play hockey this season and be in the HOF at the same time.

I dont think he is asking for any sympothy. I think this is an outstanding piece and is very honest and down to earth. Haters gunna hate I guess.

Wow that was a fun game. Just got home from Amalie and man those lightning fans are stupid. It was very fun to scream Let's go red wings with our fellow brethren. Even got a wings fans wave going though a few sections.

We have been on the other side of this type of game/matchup so many times that it's refreshing to be on this side for once. I don't remember such good sustained defensive play from this team in a long time.

Poor lightning fans..

My wife and I will be there cheering the boys on.
