Well, maybe this schedule will open the NHLPA's eyes to realignment. Its a pretty rough one for Detroit, Columbus, Nashville, Winnipeg, and even Chicago. Plus, I'm sure that Edmonton and Calgary fans are thrilled that they won't play Winterpeg once. Anyway, game on.

I suddenly feel so much better about the Wings this year. Wow that looks rough. Their D is better than ours though :/ Everything else except their first line looks like an AHL team.

No. The Wings have a couple of hyped Goaltender prospects that turned into duds (McCollum, Pearce). I only see Mrazek as anything worthwhile, and he belongs at #3 on the depth chart. He won't even see action until next season at the earliest. There isn't much past that. The Wings will have to address this at the draft, again. You can't trade Howie because they're already too thin at Goaltender as it is. -

Totally agree that the Wings should have given Dats permission to play in the KHL All-Star game if he requested it. WTF Does Pavel Freaking Datsyuk have to show up for the first couple days of training camp for, when hes been playing his ass off for months in Russia while many of his teammates sat on the couch (yes, I'm talking to you, Franzen)??

Ok, don't jump all over me, but I saw a mention of Alex Elder on a likely UFA list. With the buyouts, and extra flexibility from these new partial salary trades, could Kenny land him?

I'm not happy about this s***. Has Dats played this week for CSKA? I just saw that Kovie played TODAY for SKA. And this Visnovsky stuff....haha....Garth Snow probably did give him permission to stay, he's the worst GM in the league and probably thought he could give him a permission slip on a napkin and it was all good.

Right, and if it were true, I believe this probably will bring the Lafs and Nucks a big fine for doing business while there is no CBA. I doubt they would be so stupid. Still, its likely due to the new partial salary deals that are possible now. Vancouver will likely carry some of Luongo's contract.

Somehow, this would finally close the circle of madness with Kenny and Quincey. First they drafted him, let him languish in GR, and waived him where he went on to embarrass Holland by coming into his own in Colorado. Next, Holland trades a 1st rounder for him, and then can't resign him, and Quincey files for arbitration. The icing on the cake would be to just buy him out. Yes, it makes complete sense in this context lol.

I believe that was some idea cooked up by the Panthers and Lightning ownership, due to potential high attendance from the visiting teams up north, the snowbird factor, etc. The players no likey, though lol.

I heard that they will do a simple swap with Columbus for this short season, and then tackle realignment in the summer. Which means that Columbus will be going East under a full realignment....they wouldn't just move them back and forth lol. EDIT: Unless there is no East/West anymore?
