Is there any precedent for someone playing in an alumni game while they're employed in either the front office or coaching staff for another team?

After looking around online, it looks like this guy is the source: @ManicsFromGAF Apparently, this guy with 72 followers actually broke the Suter/Parise news first. That's what I see over on HFB, anyhow.
-
Totally unconfirmed. It was mentioned on Sirius-XM Radio's NHL Home Ice, and now everyone is going nuts. I have yet to see any reliable report, however.

Hopefully the star power of Lids can get the swedish kids to actually come over here and play after being drafted...

Great analysis...and hard to argue with. I honestly had not thought of the Bowman connection. Holland does not look like the "best GM in the NHL" as many regard him as, post-Bowman. That trade run-down is absolutely awful. Well, I guess he has this summer to finally make a good one
-
No I didn't, because he played a whole 2 games in Phoenix before they sent him down He's an unknown...if we got him for a minimum amount of talent, he might be worth developing for a full season (or even two) in GR.
-
Seems like a great choice, since quite a bit of talent will have to be traded away for a good D-man (which nobody talks about, lets talk about Nash instead lol). Semin and Doan would help replace what was lost in a trade, and the Wings will have a decent team with a good chance of making it past the 1st round.

Ah, no. This kid entered the NHL last season as a 20 yr old, and got thrown onto the Senators lineup... he warmed the bench mostly instead of actually playing minutes in the AHL where he would have adapted to NA rinks. Then they traded him to Phoenix. I think this kid would do well in a more robust development system like what the Wings have.

This is quite the situation, as the NHL does stand to make much more money if they let the Yotes fold, and then grant an expansion to QC, Seattle, or whoever else for a #30 replacement team. However, I don't think Bettman would. Letting a team fold hurts the reputation of the entire league, and they've already lost millions upon millions through this debacle...if the good people of Glendale choose to vote against the current Coyotes plan (and all signs say they will), then I can see a very quick move to QC, like we saw the Thrashers move very quickly to Winnipeg. Unfortunately...it will be after the season starts. What a mess. I think Doan was waiting for the ballot signatures to be handed in. They got over double the required amount of signatures. There is a certification process which takes a week or so, and then it will be on the general ballot for Glendale residents in November. So, I don't know what else he could be waiting for.

Interesting, but makes no sense. Why wouldn't Holland just trade for his rights? Also...to all you guys saying Winnipeg would certainly match an offer sheet...ah no. They're not high rollers. A team like that would take the free high picks and sign some FAs. If the Wings bid in this range... Then the Jets would take the picks and let Kane go, easy. But, then we're getting into another absurd over-payment situation. If the Wings did inquire with the Jets regarding Kane...would they get spooked and be open to trade his rights?

Great post, couldn't have said it better

The lack of ownership mess that seems to go on forever. Ray Whitney was interviewed by TSN on Sunday when he signed with the Stars, and he said that having no owner was a factor in him leaving the Coyotes....and he said that Shane Doan felt the same way.

What does Phoenix want for him?

This says it all. We all knew when Lids was turning 40, and he had another possible year, max. Holland had YEARS to prepare for this, and what did he do? He seems a little lost in the salary cap era, now that the Wings' stars from the pre-cap days are gone.

I think you guys should all come in the chat, stat

Signed Red Wings Sign G Jonas Gustavsson to 2-year deal, $1.5M/yr

Great move, Kenny! The Monster will be the best backup we've had in years. Finally the Wings have someone that they can go with when Jimmy gets in one of his month-long slumps. Hopefully this is only the first great move today -
i hope we dont panic if suter and parise signs elsewhere

Tsn is trying to create a story....if you've noticed the little tweets on the bottom of the screen....one said Holland was crazy or something to that effect... -

Great city....except for NHL goalies who aren't perfect. -
Not sure what to make of the cancelled Parise meeting.

Saw this coming, especially when Gretzky and Paul Coffey visited Schultz at his house to convince him to sign with the Oilers. I don't know how the team pulled that off...
-
You couldn't have said it better. This kind of thing damages the league.

Stupid kid has an ego that wouldn't fit into the Wings' locker room. Should have known immediately when he did the primadonna "I don't like what team drafted me, wah wah" bs.
