    Jan Mursak/ Merged

Weekly Mursak update (12/5/06): Mursak did in deed NOT play the London game, simply because he has left the team temporarily to go play in the World Junior Championship Tornament for Team Slovenia. It is quite an honor to be selected to a team going to the World Junior's. Anyway, Jan had possibly his worst week with the Spirit this week, recording 0 goals, 2 assists, 2 points, was a -2, and had 0 PIM's. However, the team as a whole had a bad week getting only one point out of a possible 6. Jan will be back in the States at the end of December. Also, it is my understanding that Jan CAN play in the AHL next season - I was told that only players who are drafted from the CHL can not play until they are 20, but that does not include players drafted BEFORE they came to the CHL, as Jan was. So he is eligible to play in the AHL right away.

Stevie Y was in Saginaw tonight to check out Mursak & he had some VERY nice things to say about him! Mentioned how most players, when they stop & start it takes a couple seconds to get going again, but Mursak can stop & start without losing any momentum & is an extraordinary skater. Yzerman says Mursak will be a star in the NHL sooner rather than later! He said he was very, very impressed. Surprised, also, even tho he had heard good things. He said he was by far the best skater on the ice tonight! Jan's assist on a goal less than a minute into the game was nice for Steve to see, too! haha!

Forgive my stupidity on this one, but why can't he play in the AHL until then? Does he have to be 20 years old for some reason?

Jan Mursak update (11/16/06): This weekend was a bit of an "off" week for Jan. In 3 games he only posted 2 assists & 4 PIM's & was an even +/- mark. Hopefully he gets back on track next week! Of course we did play 3 tough teams this week in Sault Ste. Marie, London & Owen Sound. It seems that other teams are watching their game tapes & focusing on shutting Jan down a bit & double teaming him at times, but he is still skating through the double coverage & looking really good out there. He definitely has not slowed down any. Too bad we will only have him here in Saginaw for one year. There's no way he does not move up to Grand Rapids next year.

My weekly Jan Mursak update: Yes, it's true, the consecutive game point scoring streak came to an end at 22 this weekend. Jan was injured in the game Friday vs. Plymouth & helped off the ice. The good news, tho, he played last night & started a NEW streak! It's at 1 right now! haha! Anyway, this week's stats (in 3 games) are: 0 goals, 3 assists, 3 points, +2 rating, & 2 PIMs. That's pretty bad when a point a game is considered a minor 'slump'! haha! See you all next week!

Again, my weekly Mursak update: First off, the "weak as a noodle" comment is totally innacurate! Jan is always the 1st one going into the corners & usually fights off guys left & right & comes out with the puck! He is VERY strong & you can see it regularly. I attend every home game for Saginaw, so I do get to see him a lot! Fast, gritty & strong! Now, as for theis week's games. The Saginaw Spirit played 3 games over the weekend (going 3-0). Jan Mursak had 2 goals, 4 assists, 6 points, was a +6 & had 0 PIMs. He extended the Saginaw record of 21 consecutive games with at least a point! He has 13 goals, 25 assists for 38 points in 21 games. He leads the team in scoring & is tied for 4th in the league. 3 points out of the top spot in scoring for rookies.

My weekly Mursak update: In 3 games played this past week, Mursak racked up 2 goals, 4 assists & a +4 rating. He has extended the Spirit record for consecutive games with at least a point to 18 now. He has scored at least a point in every OHL game he has played so far! He currently has 11 goals, 21 assists totalling 32 points in 18 games. He has an outstanding +15 rating & 20 PIM's.

2 more assists tonight for Jan Mursak, extending the team record for consecutive games with at least a point (16) - meaning he has scored in every OHL game he has appeared in! He stands at 9g, 19a for 28pts in 16 games. He is a +12 with 20 PIM's. ...and he's fast! haha!

Jan Mursak had a goal & assist yesterday & another assist today (1g, 2a on the weekend) and extended his point streak to 15 - at least one point in EVERY GAME this season - and in doing so set a new Saginaw Spirit record! ...and have I mentioned that this kid is FAST? haha! My word - fast is an understatement!

I am from Saginaw & have had the opportunity to see Jan Mursak play many games already this year. This kid is FOR REAL! There is no other way to say this, but he is FAST! I have been going to OHL games for 5 years now ever since we got the team in Saginaw and he is one of the fastest players I have seen yet! He is VERY good w/the puck, as well! It's one thing to be fast, it's another to be fast with the puck! He is among the top 2 or 3 players on the team by far. Tom Pyatt (NYR draft pick) is much improved this year & he is Mursak's linemate & is benefitting from playing alongside Jan. Jan is on his way to setting a new team record in Saginaw for most consecutive games with a point. He's close to the record now - I want to say he's only 1 or 2 games away from that. He has at least a point in each game Saginaw has played this year so far! If anyone has any more questions about him, I am on here a lot & would be happy to answer questions about him.
