I haven't spent any time on other team's forums, but I would suspect they have similar complaints about successful teams, including the Red Wings. I believe the reasons for abundant conspiracy theory discussion are, the Internet for whatever reason, tends to be the platform that people feel most comfortable in expressing that particular psychological preference, and also sports in general have a tendancy to appeal to the more emotional side of people, which of course lends itself to conspiracy. It would be massively impractical to have a wide scale organized effort to favor one team or player over others, any preferential treatment is likely the result of one individual's subjectivity.

How is Danny making a fuss? This is literally the exact same thing that happened with Maltby, he signed a two way contract, got placed on waivers and decided not to play for Grand Rapids. What is the problem?
-
It's not black and white. The red wings aren't drafting all world talent every year, they're picking players with potential upsides because they didn't finish the season dead last in the standings. Athanasiou or any individual player's NHl preparedness may be debated but the philosophy of sending later draft picks to the minors to develop is a sound practice with a proven track record of success.

What happened? -
I doubt if you asked Probert in his prime what long term issues he might have as a result of his play he'd have been able to articulate what actually ended up happening.

Hey, remember when you had to get pictures developed and you didn't know what they looked like until you got them back and your deadline for the trading card submission was in like 7 minutes? Those were wild times.

If it was me I would've shown up at the Red Wings training camp because f*** the Islanders.

The state can get involved, depends how the case develops. It's the prosecutor's job to charge citizen's with crimes when they determine that it's warranted. For instance if there was an ongoing investigation of a serial rapist and law enforcement gathered a sufficient amount of evidence the state would press charges. It wouldn't matter if the victim wanted them to or not. I have no idea how this case is being handled, and everyone is different.
-
A murder wouldn't work because the defendant is being charged by the state. If the victim is pressing the charges in the case of Kane's situation then a settlement could be reached because she could just drop the charges, but if he's being prosecuted by the state then I don't believe that would work.

P.K. Subban Donates $10 Million Dollars to Children's Hospita

Shameful. You should leave it in an unmarked envelope on the door step in the dead of night like an unwanted baby at an orphanage. -

I understand the philosophy, but a children's hospital just received ten million dollars, I don't care if he gets a banner on the moon saying what he did, it's a good thing. -

You do care who gets it because when the player gets it you say it's ridiculous. -

I don't think they're asking for your empathy, they're just being interviewed. -

What determines a player's worth? If the money is there because customers are paying to see Stamkos play and buying his jerseys, where should the money go? Should he only take $80 million and the owners pocket another $20 million? Should Curtis Glencross get it? -
Curtis Glencross regrets taking hometown discount
Mckinley25 replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
He didn't say he "needed" anything. He's just comparing the situations and how a third liner with most teams up against the cap are no longer a commodity. You must be upset at every NHLer because they all negotiate for more money than they need. As far as complaining about it, it's an interview! It's not like he's spouting off on his blog. This is how journalism works, the reporter asks a series of questions and writes up a summary sans questions. He is literally just describing a situation about his employment based on questions asked to him, I don't understand why people are criticizing him. -

Why do you think he expects sympathy? Why should he keep his mouth shut? He's being interviewed!! Goodness gracious it's just an article about an unsigned free agent and his thoughts. No where does he come off as entitled or anything, he's just expressing that in hindsight he had what was likely one opportunity to cash in and he didn't. It's an interesting perspective on the state of the league from a non elite player. -
Speaking of Weiss, is he still unsigned?
