The problem with this is, even if it does have an impact in reducing cheap shots, it's clearly not the best solution. Why not try and find a better one that doesn't involve players having to resort to dangerous and idiotic behavior? It's akin to addressing a dangerous intersection with just a yield sign when a stop light would have better results.

A lot of bad things have been, doesn't mean they shouldn't be reevaluated.

Speaking out against something you think is wrong does make you just as wrong as what you're speaking out against. He did something dumb and people called him out on it, if anyone is being unnecessarily cruel to him then I'll agree with you.

It's only reasonable to reasonable people. This overly PC world is still a much better place to live than the previous one. That said I agree nobody is calling for his head, I've said worse when I was young and some latitude of understand is appropriate.

Frank, I'll agree with you on one thing, Avery getting more games for his retort than blatant head shots is wrong. I'm not defending Avery, but it illustrates an issue we see everyday where violence is accepted and sex isn't. Look at how censorship is handled on TV, murder is fine on prime time but show a nipple or backside and its a no go. It's no wonder everybody acts out violently, it's the only socially acceptable way to cope with sexual repression! Well save for Brian MacGratton, I mean his girlfriend is hooooooott!!

The thing is Frank, when you work for a company you are generally considered a representative of that company and product. In this case he is the product. It's not like he's just spouting off sexist remarks to his buddies at the bar, he was using social media to discuss the Maple Leafs and I'm certain (despite our opinions of that organization) his comments did not reflect the ethical standards he is tasked with upholding as an employee. I don't know all the details of what precipitated this tweet or what spurred the apology, but from the perspective of the Leafs organization it was certainly warranted.

From now on when people aren't working hard enough or aren't tough enough I'll refer to them as Maple Leafs.
