If it was that easy, I can't believe it didn't happen. It's easy to sit here looking at a roster and making up trades that "could've" gotten it done.

My point is that there's not enough evidence for speculation. We just don't know what goes on.

We don't know what any of the GM conversations were like. The other GMs could have declined any reasonable offers then everyone would be upset we didn't make a trade. Holland can't win.

How could we have moved Sammy or Cleary?

It is dumb, and I don't really know if that's true but the only valuable players we have could be untouchable, save for a minor Hemsky or risky Gaborik type move.

I think the issue Holland is having is every team is asking for Mantha.

How do you compare players from different eras? Howe was the best of his era. Its difficult for me to make any other judgement.

Only Helm has much value on that list. Quincey, Kindl and Andersson have a little maybe.

Why does Franzen not feeling the need to fight back make him prepubescent? He scored a hatrick, what does he have to prove? Why is fighting back necessary? Pick on him when he isn't playing well, but his job is to score goals and he did his job.

I never had cable until I moved back to Michigan. I hate TV, with the exception of hockey. While away from Michigan I just used Game Center, which I loved for a lot of reasons, but the games are blacked out now and I had to get cable just for the wings.

I was watching some of the Olympic highlights and thinking about how intense it was here during the USA/Russia shootout. It seems most of us here (myself included) are anti-shootout even when the Wings are good at it, but I admit the Oshie vs. Datsyuk event was the high point for me for the entire tournament. I don't think I'd be for it because that intensity would rarely be replicated, but in what way do you think the Olympic rules would improve/worsen an NHL shootout? Sorry this is in the wrong thread but every time I go to post something Olympic related the thread is closed.

I believe we need more than what can be obtained at the deadline to be a serious contender. 2 defensive upgrades and possibly scoring depth depending on injuries would bring the team to that level, and that's assuming the chemistry is there. The team lacks precision. Of course I thought that last year as well and was pleasantly surprised. On a side note, I finally get done watching the Olympics and the thread is closed already? This forum is not what it used to be.

Maybe Babcock prepared by watching Hoosiers.

I understand Canada is our rival, but if The USA lost I would be routing for them. I want Babcock to be successful and theyre still part of America after all.
