It would take a Lidstrom-type player to land him, and Lidstrom only has a couple more years, so we would have to give up one of Datsyuk or Zetterberg. Obviously their biggest hole after they fill the center position back up is goaltending, and I'm thinking Howard would be a good enough prospect there. Of course there would have to be first round picks and a skating prospect involved. Maybe Kindl? Datsyuk/Zetterberg (probably Dats, as I'm sure GMs would be worried about picking up an injury-prone player) Howard Kindl 1sts So not worth it. Leave ruining futures to Atlanta and Nashville.

Well if you're comparing players to Gretzky, what makes Lidstrom so impressive? Why not just give it to 99 again? He wills the puck over the line from the bench. Oh, and he's actually a good setup man. He just plays on a line with either Nylander, Backstrom, Kozlo (slumping all season)... assists aren't racking up for him with those guys. EDIT: Oops.

I think some people are missing the message- I think he was talking about the fans in the stands. Meaning he knows he's putting on a show for the audience.

Going out on a limb here- Zetterberg is gonna score. Here's the thing about Toronto- lots of shots from the blueline. Tough for Hasek. We have to clog the slot against these guys.

Young players are bound to be inconsistent. Filppula has no points in his last 5 games, and is a -2. He also scored 9 goals in a 10-game span (November-December?). He is a better forechecker, I will give him that... and always gives a lot of effort. EDIT: Hudler is getting 12-15 minutes, except for last game. Filppula is also getting 12-15 minutes. Samuelsson is getting 13-16. So there.

Cause what this team really needs is an allstar defenseman. That, then add Thornton to the second line, and we might just have a respectable NHL team.

Yes, he is a smart guy. No, our second line is not great, but no team is perfect. We have an AMAZING defensive lineup. We have two OUTSTANDING goaltenders. We have arguably the best top line in the league. We have decent secondary scoring. We have a checking line that is above average, and finally, an enforcer. God damn people, that worst thing you can say about this team is that the secondary scoring is decent. The worst thing you can say about Anaheim is that they're led by Getzlaf and their GM is sending that team back to Disney infested hell. Pick one. Also, acquiring Jokinen would kill us 4-5 years down the road. EDIT: Plus, that cap room is important when Zetterberg is asking for a contract. I'm sure Kenny has the budget planned for the next 5+ years, and an injection of 5 million (soon to be about 7 or 8 million) is not in there. You can tell me the cap will be going up and there will be room, and I say in response: Turn on the news.

If someone skipped to the last page and read those three players, they would think you were being sarcastic. Yzerman, Lidstrom, Draper, Holmstrom, those would have been good choices.
