I'm noticing a trend here- trading the future for the now. Ok, here's my deals: Nothing. I keep my job, we still have a future, and we still go into the playoffs. At this point in the season, I don't see any problems with the team. Lilja is playing fine, and will be better in the playoffs. I have no idea where the supposed secondary scoring problem is. Maybe we'll see at the deadline. Also, I haven't seen trade deadline acquisitions put anybody over the top, or at least rarely. We all got to see Atlanta and Nashville trade the farm, only to be blown to pieces in the playoffs by teams that stuck with their teams and had chemistry.

Damn you.

And for the rest of the season: I hope someone gets 50 goals and 100 points this season. Doesn't matter who. I hope Oz keeps it up. He has been refreshingly surprising. I hope Filppula adds to what he has done, same with Kronvall. I hope Howard proves without a doubt that he should back up Osgood next year assuming Hasek retires. I hope that people stop overachieving so much, so that we can fit them all under the salary cap. I hope we pick it up against the Central Division! And I'm not even going to jinx beyond the regular season.

There is wide speculation that Petr Prucha may be moved from the Big Apple. His destination thus far is not clear. While I still maintain that the Wings are fine as is and a trade is really not necessary, it would be cool to have the kid. Great attitude, great energy, and can get smashed to the ice game in and game out, but he bounces right back up. He also scored 30 goals in his first season, but I think those numbers are unrealistic. He's a 10-15 goal player, but his tenacity is his key asset. The question is, what does New York need? We'll just call their scoring lines set. They have great defense coming up in Girardi, Stall, and Tyutin, while Malik, Mara, and Rosival are experienced veterans. Henrik Lundqvist in net. Checking line anchored by Avery. Penalty kill set with Betts, Shanahan, Hossa, and Orr. Fighters in Orr, Avery, and Holloweg. What the Hell does this team need?! Why do they want to trade Prucha away? EDIT: Oops, forgot to make a trade proposal.

Seems to me that everyone on here has only seen Prucha play once or twice (he has only played the Wings once). Some say that his 30 goals was a fluke, some say it was not. The bottom line is that he has to have PP time to get 30 goals, which he only had in his first season, and he wouldn't be getting any time here. Hence my 15 goal prediction. As for someone who can score in the playoffs- again, needs PP time. When he had time on the powerplay in his first playoffs, he was (I think) one of two Rangers to score in their four games. Finally, he can hit, he does not get pushed around (at all!), and he is one of the better players in the NHL at getting takeaways. He also kills penalties. Besides, he's super cheap and has a great attitude.

I've heard that they were going for a more mobile defenseman, like Brett Clark of Colorado. Jagr was being a baby, but has been excellent lately (like 05-06 excellent). 13 points in 9 games, and has looked even better than his numbers say.

Datsyuk is coming in on the empty net, but passes to Draper instead. The announcer says, "An unselfish play from an unselfish player." Zherdev is coming in on the empty net, but passes to Beech instead (the Columbus equivalent of Draper). The announcer FLIPS. OUT. Their attitude towards Zherdev disgusts me. Thought I would share that.

Hasek has played fine lately. Osgood has been better, but Hasek can still keep the Wings in the game. With that said, 2-0 Detroit.

The Rangers can still pull their season together. Drury needs to get going, and then they have a Finals team. Their young defense is really shaping up.

I don't think he's going anywhere, he's cheap and he scores. I think his confidence has been up, and Babcock wants to keep it that way. Have you noticed him going 1-on-1 lately, streaking through the neutral zone, putting on the moves, and generally contributing to the puck possession game the Wings play? Not only that, but last night, he had 6 shots and at least three good scoring chances.

I agree. I'm well and truly surprised at our offensive depth. On the other hand, Phoenix doesn't have the manpower to put the puck in the net a whole lot. I saw them play against NJ, when they were beginning to get good, and they can play a pretty stifling game. We'll see, but I'm gonna say low-scoring.
