Sure they have. They've failed to make any sort of impact in the standings despite top-ten drafting for several years. It's frustrating! Its a nice arena to see games in, but I only go to see the Wings. I've tries rooting for my local team, but the disappointment is just too strong.

I've always played defense, since I was a wee lad in pee-wee. I'd consider myself a moderately offensive defensman. I played pee-wee, now play with the neighborhood (mostly adults, I'm just 16, but then I'm definitely no where near the best!). We play a lot of roller-hockey. I'm terrible but never gonna give up! I would love if someone on here played for the Red Wings, they would have more PM's per minute than anyone else on this site, ever. *Crosses fingers* EDIT: 2 more spots on the roster if anyone from Akron, Ohio needs a team!

Murray doesn't fit into their system, does he? They could do better. They'd go for a center first.

Yeah, if they had someone like Kaberle, McCabe, Kubina, Gill, or Colaiacovo on their roster, ok, things would be different. But you just can't live up to your potential without a defense like that.

Damn, that's true, but given the staff's diagnosis of him in last years training camp, I would hope that they would only have better things to say about him. Maybe he's not a replacement for Schneider, but he can possibly take a spot on the roster, and then we'll see what Kronvall can do. If he turns out to be what we all know he can be, then that long term deal will be a huge pay-off.

And a slap shot is all skill. Yah, I agree that Kindl is stronger. His shot looks like an NHL shot. I would love to see a young guy with size move in and give this team some energy.

Forwards look decent, but I would prefer to hang on to Bert if it's at all possible. Defense takes a hit... I would put Preissing on line one and find a non-Tanabe. I ask you- is this a cup-winning team?

For sure? I hope he replaces his damaged legs with cybernetic ones, and becomes the first of many 'super' players. Years later, Hollywood will make a movie about the last 'unaltered' player who must make his way into a league of robots. In the end, he uses his human smarts to redefine hockey and ends up scoring the game-winning-goal in the Stanley Cup Finals in overtime of game seven, bringing on a new age of 'unaltered players.' Finally, the NHL outlaws cybernetic players, but makes an exception for Grigorenko. We win a Stanley Cup, with him leading the way, and by the looks of it, have many more in the future. However, he feels that the Cup is bittersweet and unfreezes his legs, getting them re-attached. The fans had a really good feeling about that year and the general consensus was that it was their year. Grigorenko does not feel bad, because he knows 100% that he earned what he got. As you flip through the channels on tv, you see the previews for the movie- in the end, the words flash on the screen: *BUHM BUHM* Igor Grigorenko *BUHM BUHM* Robo-hockey *BUHM BUHM* Summer It records the greatest sales in box office history, the NHL and hockey in general becomes very prosperous, and Bettman leaves in favor of the NFL. The NFL slowly collapses like a flan in a cupboard. But I really hope Grigorenko makes it to the Wings!

He's fast, but he takes awhile to take the shot, or else it's soft. He also cheats in when he's going for it. If he plays against an aggressive defensive team... odd-man rush in the making. The Wings can guide him to a strong career, though.

That looks real purty on paper. But the bottom line is that we will not be as great as we were last year, except at center- there are much better choices than Lang. However, Kindl cannot fully replace an experience OLYPMIC player in Markov. Schneider is frankly one of the best on the market, which means we can ideally only sign someone pretty close. Lidstrom is not slowing down but this could be the season that age begins to hit. Chelios is very smart but his game may take a downward turn. Lebda and Kronwall will be better, which should help offset that. Hasek will be back, for sure, but his effectiveness at his age may also decline. Bertuzzi will probably not be back, you heard Holland, he would like to sign one for sure and we all know that's Hasek. Grigorenko is not a bad replacement though. In fact, he might just be the closest to what he is taking the spot of (giving Berts effectiveness with his back). But will he need time to adapt to the American game? You bet. The silver lining is that we are still a playoff team (if we get said center and top 3 defenseman), and a division leader at that (who else). Please feel free to find the holes in my argument, cause I know they're there and I'm just too tired to find them.

So many teams have a rising salary cap tied deeply into their plans, us included. It scares me to think that there may be even less money available.

Ok so I found the original article. David, you make some very good points. I have no idea what Production Line is talking about... I pretty much agree with you on all points and believe that Damien Cox is letting his emotions do the talking.
