LOL 4 potential 1st line centers on one team. Especially in the next 2-3 years. It's a trade begging to happen.

Espo will not get all the way to 27. I agree that the Red Wings will not trade down.

Rangers are becoming an impressive drafting team. Even in the later rounds, the last couple years have been good for them.

Holland: Prices for Bertuzzi, Schneider & Markov high

Basically, we're just looking at Hasek here. Schneider is gonna be too high. Markov wont be worth what he's bound to ask for, no matter how you look at it. Some GM might be willing to take the risk on Bert, but not Holland. So we should be looking at just Hasek, yeah? EDIT: Hope you're right about Bert. Schneider is ideally 4 mil. He'll want more, in light of Philly screwing this league over.

Maybe twas just a compliment... Subaru selected by the Commercial Breaks. No surprise there. St. Louis trades 9th for #13, #44, a 3rd in '08.

Why I Love the Red Wings

Three things combined to make that goal possible: He was not challenged until right before the goal. LA was scrambling. He was able to go full speed (considerable) because he was not challenged. He was able to get the shot off cleanly, in the slot, with no bodies in the way. LA just sucks. But all three of those things can be traced back to his amazing wheels, so he definitely earned it. Actually, watching that, he had two pretty nice dekes and beat another in a foot race. I think LA was on a line change. They dumped it in and only one guy went after it. Usual conditions for a line change. So that's why LA was not prepared for him. A good read by him though, shows good hockey sense.

    Samsonov traded to Chicago

I've barely seen him play so I can't comment there. The wrist injuries mean nothing, I don't even see what you're arguing there. Once again, MONTREAL. He was never going to succeed in Montreal, that has been covered already. He was a decent player 9 years ago and he is a decent player now. And for the record, Jason Allison's production made a dramatic jump just has he started playing with Samsonov. In 1997, he had 34 points in 72 games. Not spectacular. In 1998, 83 points in 81 games... Samsonov had NOTHING to do with Allison going from getting less than a half point a game to becoming a star?

    Scott Niedermayer Considering Retirement

He's not leaning one way or the other, so I assume he'll either play another year or finish the two on his contract. He'll really be sure when he goes. I agree with everything said here- he is SO classy, for a guy who has played with Pronger and kept his lips sealed through it all. He is very skilled, and it would be a shame to see him go. As for leaving at the last possible second, he just wouldn't do that. He's part of a team, and you just don't hurt your team like that. One last thing- if he retires, the Norris Trophy will go to Lidstrom. The runner-ups will be Phaneuf and unfortunately Pronger (who else?).

    Akim Aliu

I have seen some of your posts before and have been skeptical on each and every one of them. I'm going to take this with a grain of salt and I advise others to do the same. RACIST!!!!!!!!! And there's nothing wrong with *** people Hank.

TSN: Off-Season Game Plan: Red Wings

I don't know enough about Grigorenko to give an opinion on whether Hudler should stay or go. As far as needs, Grigs is bigger and would be nice, as long as we don't lose out on any offense. I'm hoping Schneider and Markov make their way back, and a big reason for that is that they're injury prone- it will give the young guys plenty of chances to step up! I like a lot of the ideas on here but not if we can stick with the status quo. I'm hoping that Schneids sees that his paycheck should account for his imminent aging. I just realised that Lidstrom, Chelios, and Lebda are the only guys that will /probably/ play most of the season (knock on wood for those three). That's pretty pathetic. If you weren't kidding, you just upgraded the first quote from quite funny to pee-your-pants hilarious. Shane Doan will not be traded for anybody but Henrik Zetterberg, Henrik Sedin, or King ****** Henrik. And anyway we picked up Bert so we addressed that need.

    Hypothetical contraction

In defense of Columbus: Compared to HOCKEYTOWN, yes, the fanbase is pretty lukewarm. However, their fanbase is growing, it is a waste of a GREAT arena, and they are really getting it together. They seemed like the pretty-boy team from Slapshot 2 at first, even I admit it, but they have started to adopt a grittier style thanks to the addition of Foote and Shelley, plus their newer prospects play what looks like real hockey.... ... but for god sakes, will somebody change that logo??

    Flyers acquire, sign Hartnell/Timonen

Sure, but with Parent, Upshall, Coburn, Downie, and Giroux in the system, there will be big demands for money that Philly will not be able to meet. Hartnell and Timmonen will not be worth it then, Philly will lose at least half of those prospects, and they will be in the same boat, still with no cups to show for it. Not to mention, he feels horrible about it, is not that player anymore, and has gotten his in return.

    Flyers acquire, sign Hartnell/Timonen

They had to. They only had the rights to the players, and 12 days to sign them. They are a bad team. A large contract was the only way to make that a good trade. Interesting... he's a good replacement for Lang in terms of points, worth about 3 million (2006/07 Compensation: $1,650,000.00), has size (6'2"), is young (27)... thing is he has to learn to bring it in the playoffs, and I don't know whether he can play physically. Plus I don't know if his contract is up? Otherwise he looks like a good pick.
