Great Mickey-ism (in regard to Nyquist): "That kid's really good at making chicken soup, let me tell ya!!!" -
Thanks. I got a NHL text alert and didn't have a link!

Stopped into our local Dick's Sporting Goods and stumbled on two clearance rack of shirts, pullovers, sweatshirts, coats, hats, socks, and some jerseys. Items were 50-75% off the lowest ticketed price and most of the stuff had been previously marked down. I got a Franzen WC Jersey for $34, and a embrodered heavy winter coat for $54. I added it up at home and we got $856 of originally priced stuff for $206! The store's name is the common nickname for "Richard".
-
Rick, sorry about that... I should have said "a common". Franzen was the only option in my size. My wife and son got WC jerseys of some guy named "Howard" for the same price.

Remember when the Pens refused to sell tickets to anyone with a Michigan ZIP code for the Finals in an effort to keep their "red" from ruining their "white out" home games? Well, hopefully this will put an end to the practice: Can Sports Teams Keep Rival Fans Away?

I assume this is what Letang has: http://www.nhlbi.nih.gov/health/health-topics/topics/pda/ Our daughter was diagnosed with PDA a month or so after she was born. It closed eventually on its own. Otherwise we were told she might require surgery.

We have a red tabby Siberian cat named "Pavel". Ironically, we got him from a breeder in Pittsburgh and he was born shortly before the 2009 SCF!

I agree, Ozzie will be highly entertaining, for sure...

Ilitch reveals plan for new $450m, 18,000-seat Red Wings arena

While I conceed that a new barn is inevidable, I will mourn the reduction of the view of the upper bowl seats with the all-but-certain addition of the mid-level suites. I suppose the reduction in seating is to allow for the suites as well as additional leg room from increasing the depth of each row. But seeing as they haven't even apparently settled on a design, I think we'll have a number of seasons to still enjoy JLA. -
Fatboy Slim - KISS - Duck Sauce - (It's impossible NOT to skate faster when this song is playing!)

I'm fine with it... but a lot of guys will just wear them tilited way up as to make them useless for protection like they do in the minors where they are required.

GDT 2/1 GDT : Blues 3 at Red Wings 5 (Z with Hat Trick)

Agreed... I understand why the trailing ref made the call due to the head-snap, but it was only a "chest cracker". I wish we hadn't gotten the gamer winner on that PP, but then again we get screwed on calls too! -
I need a prayer answered, please.....no toot-toot whistles.

Infinitely better idea than those rinky-dink whistles! -

Normally, I'm not a violent person.... But all bets are off is someone near me starts blowing one of those things! I'm glad he's our "little ball of hate" now, but the whistles are lame, and annoying. -
Wasn't that the Finals that the Pens had 7 skaters on the ice one time and didn't get a "too many" call??? I think that would qualify.

More sad news.... 2012 continues to be a year that just totally sucks. Budd's voice will be missed.

I was talking to someone today about the time that Chris Chelios drew a penalty while on the bench by stepping on the stick of an opposing player that had fallen into the Red Wings bench after being checked along the bench boards. The player, frustrated by Chelios' actions, punched him in retaliation. I recall seeing a photo posted on LGW showing Chris' skate in the stick, but I've used a variety of search keywords, and cannot find it. Can someone please post a link to the photo?

Awesome, thanks!

In "tech-speak", All 30 team web sites are "hosted" under the NHL's "nhl.com" domain. It's also safe to say that all of the sites are run off of the same web servers. I have no doubt that each team's "web staff" are the ones that make changes to their team's web site, but they are obligated to use the "NHL approved" page templates and associated menu structures and navigation. I agree that the current team site is overall better than the previous "stand alone" web site, particularly after the initial team template's color scheme was corrected away from the initial "pinkish" hue it started with.

#5 Philadelphia Flyers vs. #4 Pittsburgh Penguins

So, tongue in cheek, my wife just asked if there's a mercy rule in the NHL or could they go to a running clock! -
Some brilliant hockey dad from a girl's HS team in Massachusetts decided to give his daughter's team some help in the third period when the playoff game was tied at 1-1 by shining a laser pointer in the eyes of the opposing goalie. The parent was caught and ejected from the rink, but with her vision still affected, the goalie let in two goals and lost 3-1. The losing team appealed to the state athletic board for a "re-do" of the third period, but were turned down and the results stand. Nice going... schmuck LINK
