4 games out of either wild card and 3rd in Atlantic. We play the 2nd best team overall today, can't see us getting anything from that. The sale could begin as early as this coming Wednesday.
-
Jonathan Ericsson out with fractured wrist, no timetable for return.

I would say the Griffins want him back at the Joe asap, didn't do them any favours in his rehab game !! -
He wasn't competing for a place against Sproul, Sproul has to beat out a top 4 guy which Marchy wasn't.
-
Another winner by Kenny, keep losing players for nothing and the roster gets fuller with over the hill vets, I'm glad Marchy got picked up one of a few actual plus players this year, but this roster crunch is all down to Kenny not having the minerals to cut ties with players that need to go. Im afraid he's a dumb captain that's going down with his ship, unless Mr I does what is needed and clears office to start afresh.

9 points out of both the wild card and divisional spot, time to stick a fork in it and see what we can get back in trades, this payroll has got to be trimmed one way or another but can Kenny do it?

Hi Christian, Bjorn wore the #25 jersey in his only game for the Redwings. Other than that there may be some old photos of him on the web, not sure about him in his Redwing uniform thou, Maybe there is one of him in his old Kansas City Redwings uniform. I hope you find the information your looking for regards Andy.

I'm assuming that for the first time in years that the wings will be sellers at this coming trade deadline. I was looking at the FA list and one name that stood out was Ekblad, is he a RFA or UFA this year? Depending on who we let go or trade there are some interesting names that could be available. I didn't see any really stand out guys except Aaron, so to get that top guy will be trading for. Going over seas I'd throw a contract offer to Jan Kovar in the K, solid 2 way centre with size. The other C the Wings were looking at a few years back, Fyodor Malykhin seems to be back on track in the K this year after a couple of years struggling with injuries wether we still have an interest I'm not sure. Back home how about sounding out the Isle for Tavares ? The Isle need goaltending, maybe offer them a choice of Howard or Mrazek , Nyqvist or Tatar, Helm and a pick , I don't know what it need to get him thou but we need that top end C. Going with Tavares Neilsen Zetterberg and Noesek as our 4 centres next year I'd be more comfortable with, than what we have at present. On the backend Shattenkirk looks like an option via FA with Fowler as a trade option as our needed #1 D but are they that level? Well one thing is for sure we don't currently have one and none in the pipeline, plenty 2/3 guys but not that top guy. Depending on which D we let go or trade away will no doubt dictate who we look at brining in, but we need some snarl with size back there, and either Zadorov , Oleksiak or Trymakin would fit the bill. But saying all that we'll probably win 6 in a row and Kenny will think we can get in again and have a shot at it and sign some more old vets for a push at Stanley !

What Kenny is failing to realise or is just ignoring concrete facts is that he is adamant that he's rebuilding on the fly and will not blow up the roster. Well yes Kenny you can do that when you have half a dozen or so solid and top end vets to bring them thru whilst still being able to challenge for the cup. This current roster has maybe 3 at max , and that is pushing it. We don't have a Lids or Chelli or Raffa on the back end and really up front only Z is showing up regularly and he's starting on the downward path of his career. Kenny is too stubborn to admit he needs to rethink his strategy and the backroom staff seem unable or unwilling to rock his little boat. Time for some front office changes as we are getting left behind at an alarming rate by the majority of the league. -
We have been shut out in 6 games and have scored just 1 in 9 other games , and have won 11 of our 47 games in regulation. Of those 47 games 17 have gone to OT. You could say we are a difficult team to beat, and on the other hand you could say we struggle to win. The end result is a .500 team that will miss the playoffs but have to many points for a top Ten draft pick.
-
Same old Blash at the end of the day, plays not to lose yes we got a point but this team isn't going anywhere this season , so go for the win in regulation Blash, how many goose eggs have we got already this season? These don't win games .
-
Lookslike he's warming up now thou.

maybe package Smith Mrazek and Nyqvist for that top D man ,who will be a trade partner thou is debatable. Russo up for Smith and Lorito for Nyqvist for remainder of this season to see what they can bring to the table. Put Sheahans name out there as well, Nosek is more than a capable replacement at a cheaper cap hit, Sheahan has regressed every year since being on the roster. I'm not sure on Tatar, he's been hot and cold but if we can get a good return on him then yes do the deal. Let Jurco have his spot and he'll either blow us away or seal his own fate by the end of the year. I may upset a few on here with this but , I'd ask Kronwall about a trade if a contender needs a solid vet for the 4/6 spot and will take on his contract I'd pull the trigger. Maybe we would have to take a minor contract back ala Vitale. Ericsson, well his contract guarantees he remains a Red wing until 2020 ,unless we find a GM equivalent to Holland!! As for Miller and Ott , I doubt anyone will ask after them. Both contracts are up at the end of the season so let them run their course. Vanek and Green, well I guess you'd have to listen to any offers but I'd not be too concerned to move either, and I'd offer Vanek an extension if he doesn't move.

well if giving him nearly 15mins ice time results in performances like that lets see more of it. Also anyone else notice that the guy with 2 goals also had the least icetime amongst the fwds last night, ?!
-
oh come on Dickie, Griffin was a N/M , he'd be just the same!
-
well this would sort the back end out for us.
-
I'd hire Winston Wolfe, he "solves problems" !
-
well Jurco would be happy having his old coach behind the bench, he may get utilized correctly for once. its amazing really, Green is out and the only other decent shot from the point is watching from the press box so he can learn more!

Well I guess I gotta eat humble pie , with one game to go we've won 7 !! And 6 of those went to OT or SO . It's not a case of me being a negative fan more of a realistic one who can see the overall picture in what is going to be our worst league finish in many a year. Losing to the bottom feeder team last night at home sums up our season. The streak is over, only the totally blind rose tinted spectacle fans will argue it isn't. Blashill has been unlucky with the players he has lost due to injury, but he hasn't helped himself with his constant fetish of changing lines with the personnel he does have. I am not sure if Kenny has the minerals to make a change mind season , and if he did whose available out there at this moment in time to take over? Todd is doing a good job down in GR and it would be unfair on them (GR) to bring him up just to steady a sinking ship and disturb their season, maybe an appointment at seasons end instead would be better for all concerned, give Blashill the rest of this year to get some sort of structured hockey implemented. Whatever happens , I hope we don't stand pat going into the new era at our new rink. After years of being spoilt be watching so many great players wear the wingedwheel this has been hard to watch so far, and unless we unearth a new Russian 5 overnight (if only) it's not going to get much better. Blashill needs to start to play to win, take the shackles off the skilled players we do have put them in spots to perform at their best and stop setting the team up not to lose, it hasn't worked so far and we can't get any lower in the standings . Ps, Blash just put AA Larks and Mantha on the 3rd and let them roll, they are going to be the future , let them learn it together.

12/9 GDT - Blue Jackets at Red Wings - 7:30 PM EST
Andy Pred 48 replied to MabusIncarnate's topic in 2016-17
We have a .500 roster that is performing as such, no major issues that any realistic fans didn't forsee , unlike some of the front office that should have and acted on 3 or 4 years ago. -
I must say that the coaching staff missed a trick with this game. Playing against just 3 forward lines for 2 periods we didn't role all 4 of our lines consistently during the middle period to wear their 9 forwards down enough to take advantage. This game was for the taking and once again we fire blanks when our goalie is giving us a chance to win. On a side note I hope when AA is back that he Larkin and Mantha are put together to be our 3rd line.
-
I said we'd be a .500 team tops this year and just miss the playoffs, so at this moment in time they are above my expectations.
-
Any chance the Habs put their back up in for the 3rd?
-
well if anything hopefully we are watching their PP and seeing how it should be done.
