Official 2016 Detroit Red Wings Offseason Thread

what would be the situation, cap wise, if Kronwall was forced to retire through injury? -
Alexander Radulov: Wings on short-list of desired teams
Andy Pred 48 replied to TheDetroitRedWings's topic in General
Radulov likes being the go to guy, and if Pav is gone then he'll be just that at Detroit, the aging Z should be playing 3rd line mins next year. If by some magical unreal Kenny moves we get Stamkos on board too the the Wings with a top add on the D wouldnt look too shabby next year. -
What's the chances Kenny trys to trade up in the draft? He'll kick the tires but the asking price was to high or will he stump up this year.
-
It ties his hands to a degree, but not what contracts to hand out which he has mis managed on a few occasions.Hence part of his dilemma now.

Radulov makes us a better team on the ice period! Radulov off the ice is where the changes need to have happened. -
Just been confirmed that Zaitsev has signed for the Leafs.
-
I'd sooner us trade up for Sergachyov, the kid is 18 next month and dare I say would be ready for 3rd pairing come next season.

Radulov is as marquee type player that we don't have, if Pav does go. He's a game breaker and boy are we going to need one of those next season. I'd take a chance on him with a 3 year deal at say $5m per year. -
I hope we are offering a contract to Evan Polei this off season. 6'2" 227lb is the size for the checking line we need.

Very knowledgeable my friend, I guess most on here would be at a loss as to who you mean. But although he'd be good at taking out the opposition I doubt he'd be much use now! -
We got to somehow get Abramov, the kid is a highlight reel machine.tore up the Q in his first season.

Bring his mate Zaitsev for the D as well, could be a possibility and would improve the roster straight away. Zaitsev in for Q and Alex in for Pav. He's the only one out there that we could likely get to replace Pavs production, Stamkos maybe but can't but can't see him coming to Detroit. -
Mantha Larkin Svechnikov should be one of our top 2 lines going forward. I would be looking at getting that going next year, let them grow and learn as a unit, then we'll see a dominate line for the Wings for the next 5 to 10 years. Only problem is Kenny won't have the minerals to go with it.

If this Franchise really intends on getting back amongst the elite tire teams then they have got to make some big personnel changes in the off season. Being a realist that off season starts on Friday, no big comebacks happening with this series I'm afraid. The biggest problem the Wings could face is maybe replacing Pav, not an easy task. I hear all the calls for Stamkos and if there's a chance maybe we should take it. But as a short term idea a certain A Radulov is a FA in the KHL.A 3 year contract offer to the 29 year old dynamic winger may just be the answer, this gives Larkin time to mature into the his projected top line role. Biggest question mark here is can Z continue as our #1 c if we miss out on Stamkos? Not sure he can. This could be the Wings biggest problem to solve. Jan Kovar would be a under the radar player to go after to help out here but I think he is tied up to his team for another couple of years, but I'm sure there could be a way around it. The D , now there is something that really needs a overhaul. On their day all the D are very good but the issue has been the lack of consistent performances by all of them. The regular metal breakdown decision-making plays has been the norm for this defensive unit all season. Do we trade away a couple and let the UFAs walk too? The albatross contracts that King Kenny has handed out have made sorting this miss out almost unworkable. So I would let Q walk and see if we could get any takers for Ericsson and Smith. As much as Kronner has diegressed this year he isn't going anywhere. A much lesser role would help out Kronner now a 3rd pairing role with Marchenko would be ideal. I would go after Yandle to take Qs spot which is an upgrade in the puck moving department for us. Could we send Ericsson and Smith to the Jets for a shot at Trouba? One can dream I guess but abit of imaginative tinkering could see the D looking like this. Yandle DeKeyser. Trouba Green Kronwall Marchenko Ouellet. Still in all reality well see maybe 3 players go 2 come up from GR and a Ufa come in. So 2016/17 season will be see 2015/16, not a good prospect eh!

gdt ECQF Game 4 Post-GTD: Tampa Bay 3, at Red Wings 2
Andy Pred 48 replied to vladdy16's topic in General
The anemic power play has cost them this series. Maybe a change in personnel in the off season on that front would be a help. Also, get Cheli on board full time somehow to sort this D out! I said we would go in 5 hopefully I'm wrong and we can somehow grab a win on the road and make t he season last a little longer. Hoping for some moves in the off season -
GDT ECQF Game 3 GDT : Tampa Bay Lightning at Red Wings, 7:00 EST

Call up Tangradi to replace Andersson, tell him to beat the crap out of Johnson take him out the series. Job done, only this isn't the 1980s NHL is it? Lol -
I really can't understand the hate some of the so called fans on here vent towards a player of their team. He was a 4 th liner that did what he was asked to do. But for a couple of inches he'd have had an early goal in game 1 and who knows what may have happened. Still I wish him the best of luck in whatever he does next and thanks for his time here in Detroit. To all the badmouthing "fans" he can say something none of you can , he played over 200 games in the show and wore the Winged wheel to boot.

its a serious issue when your $6m man is getting the least ice time on the back end! -

good luck tonight boys, stay out of the pen box, esp Abbey!! -
wings had a great chance last night to pinch one on the road and blew it, that killer instinct when on top isn't there. At 2-1 up they had 3 great chances to go up by 2 and couldn't convert. Then it was back to normal for the Wings, unable to keep a lead and then run ragged in the 3rd. I can't see them taking this series any more than 5 games. Problem with this coaching system is that Blash plays not to lose, and not to win. Once behind we haven't got much of a change up to get back into the game, I hope I'm wrong but I don't think so .

Free Press: Pavel Datsyuk to return to Russia following Playoffs
Andy Pred 48 replied to jdwheelz's topic in General
Also seeing reports from various reporters that they understand that Pav is leaning towards playing out his contract then returning to Russia so we'll have to wait and see. -
Was worth the whole 1min 42sec of ice time! I just have a problem working out Blashills logic in this. He needs to role 4 lines in the post season over using 3 will end in an early exit.

Rangers playing a desperate Wings may think of resting a few top guys to avoid potential injury in what I see being a very physical game. Still it could come down to us rooting for the Isle against Philly on Sunday. -
