Genuine question , can first round draft picks refuse to sign for the team that has drafted them?
-
Quinn Hughes looks interesting, although on the small side for D , his skating is elite, and the added bonus would be in using him to persuade his lil Bro to decline all others in the 19 draft in favour of playing with his brother!
-
Didn't the Leafs come in for Green with a 1st and 3rd round offer? Out of the 292 D used in the NHL to date Green is 39th in scoring , he is however 260th in + - , saying that OEL who a lot of fans want on the roster is dead last in this category with -36 and the Sens stud Karlsson is 290th. Saying that, only Kronwall has a worse +- on the Wings D than Green.
-
He's stinking out the Wolfpacks D , 1 assist in 9 games and -10!! Not bad for $4.3m eh Meanwhile his lil bro is tearing it up in Vegas .
-
I'd resign him if , we can't get anyone better in the off season, but nowhere near what he's on now. Problem is Kenny will look at what he's paid our other overpaid D, say Green is the best of the bunch and won't be able to stop himself in making him the highest earner on the blue line. So in that he will offer him a 2 year deal at $5.5m and thus undoing the good work he did in freeing up over $5m cap in the Tatar deal.

I say we take Quinn Hughes, then next year his little Bro Jack states he only wants to play on his brothers team ! -
thats going to be fun tonight, waiting to see if there's any late scratches during warm ups.
-
are they retaining 50% of his salary as well?
-
so on the TFP site we are listed as having a interest in; Max Domi Oscar Klefbom Ryan N-Hopkins Tyson Barrie Josh Leivo Oliver Ekman-Larsson Wings players listed as having teams interested in the; Green Tatar Nyquist Glendening Mrazek; traded to the Flyers. will look forward to see if any of these happen.
-
anyone else see the Flames are inquiring about Howard and that the Flames have Valimaki on the available list , doubt Jimmy gets him thou. Also hearing that some teams have asked about DDK, at this rate we could have half a new roster next season.
-
Karlsson signing here would !
-
let the rumors begin,
-
A 1st and Samsonov for Green and AA? if the Caps throw in Zaitsev , then id take the deal.
-
Ericsson is a great 3rd pairing guy, not his fault what Kenny is paying him. When big E is not only your best +- D man but best +- roster player then in all honesty there is the teams problems. People go on about Greens offensive production but , in my opinion he isn't up to much in the area he is playing, D . Sure he's going at half a point a game in his Red wing career, but the guy is a combined -34. Big E can boast a + rating over his career. Yes I know +- is maybe not a accurate reading on a players overall performance , but for a last overall pick, He hasn't done too bad.

Listened to a live radio feed here in the UK , Wings go up 5-2 mid 3rd period, that'll do, turn off radio hit the sack. (It's late here)! Woke up and Log into NHL.com to get the stats, wtf happened?!! How can you loose that lead, not once but twice we had a 3 goal lead. Now, taking 5 min major doesn't help, but 4 goals on the same pen is just down right un-professional , my rec team wouldn't have given up 4 goals on the major pen, and to be crowing that they've been practicing the PK last week , just makes it all the more unbelievable. Problem with this team is they keeping picking up losing points and moving further away from a top 3 draft pick. -
looking at our roster and the prospects coming up for next year the only requirements I feel we need are a genuine top 2 defenceman and a scoring/powerforward. Many of us on here will agree, but can we aquire these through FA come the summer? I can't see the type of player we need on D in the coming FA season. There are some solid 3/4 type players available but that isn't what we need, the RFA pool has some interesting candidates but I doubt their clubs will let them leave their organisation. Justin Schultz, Erik Gudbranson, PK Subban, Dimity Kulikov and Cody Franson head the list. Are any of these top 2 players that would help our team? The only player I see being on the market is Kulikov as all the rest will be re-signed by their clubs. Although a great skater, he lacks size and has been a - rating every year in the NHL. Maybe that is a harsh judgement as he has played on the Panthers team that has struggled (except v us!) since he has iced for them. He ices 20+ mins a game for the Panthers and usually against the other side first line. Would be an upgrade on Kindl,Quincey but that isn't our priority need. The only way we get that 1/2 guy for next season is to trade for him. What can we offer thou, a roster player is a given and maybe one we don't want to loose but you have to give to get and that is the problem. My 3 choices would be S Weber, V Hedman and B Seabrook but we know none of them are going to happen. More of a choice in the forward UFA list. One player who I always thought would do well for us is Milan Michalek, he is a big body but not very physical and not as defensive responsible that is a must for Babcock. He seems to be struggling for the Sens this year, maybe a change of scenery is what is needed? Thomas Vanek, now he is the right handed scorer we need but I feel he'll price himself out of Kennys range, and I doubt that Ken will want to pay anyone more the Z and Pav. Possible but unlikely. So plenty of options out there but which way Kenny and the top brass go is anyones guess, I just hope he doesn't overpay for some over the hill player as he seems to do just lately!

well so far he's having a good first full season in GR and today's game saw him finish with 2a and a +5 rating. He is GRs leading D as a rookie in points and team leading in + - . He has 5+18 in 40 games and a +19.
-
When is the actual deadline day for trades?
-
Either way, one of them needs to go, nearly $10m tied up in the net is simply too much. This team needs to strengthen in front of the minders and reducing the cost of the 2goalies by at least $3-4m will be more helpful to the roster overall.

ok guys, abit of inside info for you all to discuss. Alot of attention surrounding the English kid in the draft. Remember the name, Liam Kirk. Various NHL teams have been scouting him lately and our very own HA flew in from Sweden to watch him last week. Seen him myself, and the kid can play, needs to fill out but that will come. Old Redwing draft pick and current team mate, Andreas Jamtin alerted Hakan to come and have a look at Kirk. Will wait and see as Detroit are the only NHL team to have drafted an English player maybe lightning strikes twice. -

ok so here's my thinking after looking at the way we are looking at ending up in the lottery. i think the first 2 picks will be out of our reach but anything after is in play. One of these 4 will be picked by the Wings in the first round.
