They all got their fun with the Winter Classic and now they have the Olympics on the mind--F**K the Olympics! the NHL crams the schedule together in order to play in that meaningless event! so NHL fans have to suffer with poor hockey play due to fatigue and injuries from these games being crammed together! the NHL DOES NOT CARE ABOUT THE FANS!! WAKE UP PEOPLE!

Lets see, Howard gets a $6 Mil per year deal for 6 years with a NO TRADE CLAUSE! so where is the incentive to play better?? He has his $$$$ with a long term deal, why is Holland handing out NTC's on this team like Halloween candy!! the wings have 10 players with NTC's, Samuelsson,Cleary,Bertuzzi,Gustavsson,Howard,Ericsson,Weiss,Kronwall,Datsyuk and Alfredsson. The last 3 mentioned I can see making sense but the rest??? I mean WTF is Holland thinking? or is he even thinking at all?? This roster is a mess! and Holland has handcuffed himself with all these NTC's!
  3. OK, people got get this straight before they post, I am sick of seeing this all over the forums---Samuelsson CANNOT be bought out now, the period for Compliance Buyouts ended June 30. ALSO-Sammy has a NTC=NO TRADE CLAUSE. Third- if they Waive him his Salary of $3Mil STILL COUNTS AGAINST THE CAP because he is OVER 35-unless someone claims him.
  4. Alfredsson is only getting 3.5 Mil, the other 2 mil are incentives he has to earn this coming year and if he gets them, then the 2 mil will count against the 2014-15 seasons cap--so RELAX!
  5. injured

Notice when Dekyser left, (around 12 mins left) the D went to CRAPOLA! this blows!! One thing tho, Dekyser is the real deal! GREAT Defensive D-Man!!!
  6. injured

UnFn believable!! all year long we get a player back from injury and in the same game we lose someone else! tonight Bertuzzi is back and we lose our best Defensive Defenseman!!
  7. Sammy was given a NO-TRADE CLAUSE in his contract by Ken Holland----what a genius Kenny is!

The lines I wanna see when or (IF) the Wings are healthy... 1 Zettr-Brunner-Franzen 2 Dats-Bertuzzi-Tatar 3 Helm-Miller-Tootoo 4 Flip-Eaves-Sammy(Cleary) If Franzen cant be consistent then I would replace him with Flip and drop the Mule to the 4th line. DEFENSE: Kronwall, Ericsson, Quincy, Smith, Lashoff, --then the big??? (White, Kindle, Colliacovo, Huskins) << << who goes from this bunch??? You gotta keep Lashoff up and not send him to GR he has been too good! Also I think Eaves deserves to stay in the lineup and not be a healthy scratch anymore! what do you guys think?

Congratulations, just how many games did you watch back from the 1970's through the 1980's?? I am talking about teams GOING FOR IT before there was OT and also BEFORE they started giving points for just making it to OT. Alot of teams take very few, if any, chances in the last 5 mins of regulation. Now, since they play for the SURE point, is why they MUST change the point system to 3 points for a regulation win, not only for better hockey in the last 5 mins of a game but also its proportionate! how the MORONIC Board of Governors came up with this current point system without thinking it through is beyond bush league!

I understand that some people hate tie games but I want them back for these reasons... 1. Some games you have 2 teams that DONT deserve to win. 2. Some games you have 2 teams that DONT deserve to lose. 3. Ties have been a stat since the NHL began! 4. My personal experience of a tie game--- when I was a kid growing up in the Detroit area back in the 70's the Red Wings SUCKED, I started following them on a regular basis beginning in the 1971-72 season I was 7-8 years old, in the 1973-74 season my Dad got tickets for a Saturday afternoon game at the old Olympia, it was March 2 1974 to be exact. The Wings played the Big Bad Boston Bruins with Bobby Orr and Phil Esposito, they were REALLY GOOD! the Wings at that point of the season were out of the playoff hunt, I went to the game hoping the Wings would do good knowing the odds against them, well the Wings came away with a 4-4 tie and I remember how happy I was that they didnt lose to the Bruins, it actually felt like a win considering how bad the Wings were then! it felt great to see the Wings hang with one of the best teams in the NHL at the time and NOT LOSE! thats why Ties can be good and at least you come away feeling and knowing your team didnt get beat and you got a well earned point!

I understand that but the point is teams play differently now days when they know they have a secured point as opposed to 'going for it' in the last 5 mins of regulation time like they did back in the early 80's, back then teams went for the win, they didnt rag it the last 5 mins as much as teams do it in todays NHL. If all games were worth 3 points now (regulation win =3 pts) dont you think more teams would play harder in the last 5 mins of a game to get ALL the points? it would defiantly change the strategy of todays games just like it was a different approach in the pre-1983 era.
  12. GDT

Totally agree!!!! these shootouts and points for losing in the 5 min OT have ruined NHL records--you cant compare the Blackhawks run with the 1980 Flyers, the Flyers had no shootouts and OT's and even in the beginning of the OT era (1983) you didnt get any points for losing in the OT.

We have some talent in Grand Rapids, what needs to be done is for Holland to get off his azz and make some trades (trades that DONT bring back former Wings) we have young players that are to valuable to just release but not getting any quality ice time and 2 young ones ready for the NHL NOW in GR (Nyquist-Tatar). Young D-Men like Lashoff and B.Smith look very good, others like Kindle are not very impressive and K.Quincy looks like a major bust after letting him go on Waivers to keep Chelios in his last season, then trading a 1st round pick to get him back---OUCH!! he is playing like someone who should have been had for a 4th round pick! Trade bait: Kindle, Cleary, Emmerton, Mursak, Abdlekader, we can package some of these guys to get a very good D-man like Bouwmeester from the Flames, he can be had because of his cap hit $6 mil and Flames slumping again this year.

Time to talk trade options-- Kindle, Cleary, Emmerton to the Flames for Boumeester, Flames are at the bottom of the League and JB has a big cap hit of over 6 mil per year.
